GM made a HUGE mistake if so. You can fire at will in Louisiana, but that term is not racist and now that guy can sue for defamation or something along those lines. And he will definitely have a case.

And in no way should a person be fired for saying that. Yes, it was stupid, but A write-up or verbal counseling would have been appropriate.

The guy clearly shouldn't have been fired if he said that and that was it. But this is clearly not true either. Many people love New Orleans. Not all of those who just come to visit want to live in such a place, but many people love it.

He should lawyer up. While Louisiana is a at will State. I would think that if you actually give a employee a reason for termination that should have some merit.

Doubt that would qualify for a favorable judgment in an at will state. Even if he was in a protected class the odds of prevailing are low. Presume his a white male and the only thing left for white males is age discrimination , and those cases are very hard to win as opposed to race, gender disability based cases.

I once explored a potential age bias case and it was clear the EEO people have little interest in advocating for white males. My premise was the action of the employer had a disparate impact which would have been championed if I had fit in their favored protected group.

He was assigned a work assignment in the 7th ward neighborhood in New Orleans. He was heard telling a co worker that he hates going to Coronaville to work. One of the brown nosers reported him to management. He was fired immediately, GM said it was racist.

Watch what you say baws.

No shite. That GM should have thought twice because now he's gotten the company into a wrongful termination suit.

ETA: They'll probably win, but still have to pay to defend if the issue is pressed.

The GM's problem would be that it's no one's business why someone gets fired other than the GM or supervisor doing the firing, but if he told people he fired him for being racist and the word gets back to the employee, he is in trouble (character assassination basically). Because the bottom line is that it's not a racist term. Stupid, but not racist.

Is Coronavile racist?

Btw: "culcha" is a subculture, like "redneck."

Do you use either?
