Why have we singled out nurses? They’re are a metric shite ton of ancillary staff on a hospital floor on any given day even right now. They’re are specialists and chief surgeons that have been covering Covid maintenance shifts. There’s tons of house keeping staff, therapists, etc., doing all sorts of shite. But the nurses are the ones with the signs in their yards and doing Tik Tok videos and posting their mask faces on Instagram and Facebook. It’s so silly.

All I will say is that the fund could be used in a manner that only benefits nurses. If they, the nurses/fund managers, are asking for money in lieu of dinners I don't have as much of a problem. As long as this is the nurses fund and not something Oschner had the ability to pull from.
I have no idea if this is the case, just saying that it may not be Oschner itself asking for money.

What a joke. Ochsner was crushing every hospital system and private practice in the state before all of this. Now we are supposed to feel bad for them that they grew so large they are facing losses all while enjoying a “non profit” tax free status.
Those nurses won’t even see this money. And they don’t make a lot of money to deal with the shite they deal with.

Donations are a choice. If you chose not to that's fine, but trying to make light of thier dedication right now is callous and a ridiculously dumb thing to DC o right now IMO.
You wanna know what’s callous? Continuing to pat yourself on the back when you’re receiving hazard pay, additional incentives for hours above FTE, unlimited OT, other bonuses, free catering every day, and constant “TYFYS” from others, while the rest of the country deals with the highest unemployment rate since the Great Depression.
The fact that Oschner is sending these letters out right now, when all of this economic fallout is happening to keep these same hospitals and nurses from being overwhelmed, shows extremely poor taste.

This Nursing Innovation Fund is a trash lobbying organization that is just going to use this money to lobby Congress for nursing power. See their own statements from their website:

This is actually par for the course with Ochsner. They ask their employees to donate at the end of each year. They say it's "anonymous" and that it's "optional" but everyone gets a form with a different serial number at the top. They must keep track of it. Alot of employees were donating $1 in fear of retaliation when I worked there
