Well the bills have been paid (Medicare,AETNA)....Anyway a long story short we get some mail from them explaining how their Nurses and Staff are working the Front Lines of this Massive Pandemic, and would like us to donate money to these hard working 'Front Liners'...asking for donations of $100;200,275 what have you..I thought they already get paid to do their job...

Who sent the letter? Oschner itself?

Or was it the nurses support union thing?

Ochsner is trashy, as is any hospital asking for donations during a economic depression.

Do you go to work and risk you life and your families every day ?

Donations are a choice. If you chose not to that's fine, but trying to make light of thier dedication right now is callous and a ridiculously dumb thing to DC o right now IMO.

Warner Thomas makes 5 million a year, but it’s up to your grandpa who is on Medicare to help them pay these brave nurses.

Man I would have retired much sooner if I knew I could take donations at my job...restoring power to many people at once bfrom the confines of a Substation..or picking up a lot of load closing a Field switch...Dang imagine 1,500 to 2000 giving me a donation....for doing my job.

Not sure what the money is being used for, but I would like to hope that it goes to making the healthcare worker’s life more manageable. I can tell you if you’re a nurse, childcare may be a tough spot right now. Normal channels are broken. And coming home in fear that you will inadvertently pass it to loved ones is a real thing. Yes they get paid, no they aren’t getting paid enough to absorb the differences their facing right now from normal status. It’s tricky.

After posting, I see the money isn’t being used for what I thought. Screw all that training BS...

Nursing Innovation Fund.

This is what needs to be looked at.

Um, aren’t these the risks that go with this particular field? Pretty sure everyone in the medical field know this before they pursue this career.

No idea. May be a fund that nurses can pull from for paying for continuing education or even if they fall on hard times.

Maybe Oschner usually pays in as the sole donater and the nurses, or managers of this fund, are using this opportunity to beef it up to help in leaner times.

My wife and I both do and have never asked anyone for a donation because of it.
