An 82 and a half year old has been alive for one third of the nation's existance. They were born during WWII.
A 50 year old has lived through one fifth of the nation's existance. They were born during disco and the same year that the 7th Black Sabbath album was released.
A 25 year old has lived through one tenth of the nation's existance. They were born in this millenium, with cell phones and the internet.
I just thought it was interesting to consider the range of life experiences by those currently living and the relatively short length of time since 1776. Happy 4th and 250th!

I went and visited the grave of my great uncle who was a ww2 vet today and put some mini flags around it. He was one of them ball turret bubble gunners in the Army Air Corps. I realized he would have been 100 for this 4th of July.
I miss that old dude

My great grandfather (my maw maw's daddy) was born in 1867. Was alive during the reconstruction of the south, fought in the Spanish American war, was a grown man when the Titanic sunk, alive during WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Was around for the use of many of today's modern technology and made it for a man landing on the moon. Died in 1970 at the age of 103. Still blows my mind.
Edited to add he outlived 3 wives.
