I don't see why we can't just go with "cats and dogs are both cool" I really like both, I think having pets is great

And is there any point where you "dog people" would admit he is a cool critter to own?

I'm a hardcore dog person but yes that's pretty damn cool.

Play dead? I had a dog that you could "shoot" with your finger and she'd fall over on her side. She could also catch just about anything you threw with her mouth. That should be easy for a cat using his paws.

I am a dog person too. Never had a cat until recently. I am training it like a dog because I prefer dogs. But I do really enjoy the lack of "maintenance" that this cat requires. We have gone on two week vacations and just left the cat in the house with food and water and clean litter.

Where do I post a video of him fetching the toy (that I can link to this site)? I have one on my phone but I have never uploaded a video on the interwebs.

Same reason we have a cat. Our is outside though. Just leave it food and water and it does it's own thing. No need for a fence or a shock colar. Also eats the june bugs outside and kills the mice and the snakes too.

Did you name him by the sound of an electric can opener? Cause that's the only sound I've ever seen a cat respond to.

One of my cats liked to fetch the small plastic balls; she surprised me one night by bringing a wadded up piece of paper (the size of a ball) so she could play fetch. She also liked to run and jump into a box moving across the floor, and then out and in.

Other cats in our current house have learned to open doors with the not round handles. Two brothers taught each other, they can almost reach the handle, but jump up, ride it down and then push with their hind feet.

We have had cats who stuck their paws under doors and pulled, closing the doors and shutting themselves out of rooms.

Feline intelligence is almost as varied as human.

I trained both of my cats to come when called, although I used hand signals and snapping. Its pretty easy to miss your name during a conversation. And the hand signals was useful for when they went deaf. They are both dead now.

They were better trained than my dog, and easier to train to.

I think this might be hard for a cat to learn how to do. Although I did teach (one of) my cat to shake my hand. She only batted like 50% for that but still better than my dog.

Why post that? Does it make you feel good? Even if I didn’t like something, I can’t imagine my life being so miserable I feel the need to post dead pictures of it in someone else’s thread.

The OP didn’t even say anything negative. It’s just really shitty of you but it’s whatever. That’s really funny to you?

No. I call them my cats but its just stray cats that come at night to eat for a little while.

Same crew comes every night around 7pm. I feed them some food and then I dont see them until the next night.
