You don't think the nurse didn't follow every friggin precaution knowing she was dealing with the death virus? I bet she was double gloved/gowned etc. and still got it.
I promise you that the failure point happened when the nurse was taking all that off.
Not to rag on nurses on a profession, but if you are familiar with working under aseptic technique it is rather disturbing how often you can see healthcare workers contaminate themselves and they don't realize it.

I mean...look at a lot of the people you see as nurses...not exactly top of the class.

And why are you people eager for doomsday jumping up and down in excitement over this?
"ZOMG THIS PROVES THAT IT SPREADS EASIER THAN THEY SAID."
So the fact that someone with close contact when he was the most infectious came down with it after breaking protocol means that it spreads like wildfire.....
But the fact that all of the people who dealt with him when he was heavily symtomatic and had no idea he had Ebola and didn't come down with it themselves is completely irrelevant to the point?
You know, the ambulance drivers who weren't told about the illness until days after the positive test, along with the ambulance that wasn't taken out of commission days after the fact.
Think about that.....within the hour there was probably someone else lying on the same gurney as he was. With no special protection because at that time he wasn't a special patient.
But yes....this one breach clearly proves the danger of this virus. Indisputable.

Probably a moronic question, but, if someone has Ebola and uses the toilet for whatever, I'm assuming the sanitation aspect of our nation's water supply systems would kill off the virus? I have no idea how that stuff works.
Yes.
It is one of the primary differences between the third world and the first world: breaking the chain of fecal-oral diseases.

That's what the CDC wants us to think. No one has a clue. They don't want the public to go full retard panic.

I find it kind of funny how EVERY article written about the disease and someone who contracts it always says "you can only get Ebola through direct contact with the body fluids of an infected person" and "only when they are showing symptoms". In reality, nobody has a clue. There's just not enough evidence to truly know.
Are some of y'all going full retard?
The answer to that question is yes.

What does this even look like? People refusing to go to work and staying at home?

There have been folks going full retard about this from the start.
From those who thought it was really a nothing disease that you only need to walk into a Western health care treatment center to survive it to those flipping the frick out over bringing the doctor to Emory and "endangering us all."

Look at the lack documented cases of Ebola in recent history, as well as the various strains of Ebola-like viruses that are out there. There are cases where certain strains of virus have only affected 1 or 2 people. I'm not worried about this particular outbreak, but there is so much we don't know about this, that we are unfortunately going to have to learn as we go.

This folks is the reason that news should be censored and not reported to common folk. They have no clue what they're talking about, and it's easy to scare them.

But you see....that isn't true.
This isn't some new outbreak of some previously unknown strain. They have gotten clinical knowledge of it for a year now. They know the pathology of the disease.
And it is acting as expected, with no reason to think otherwise.
The only doubt comes from those who don't look at what we do know in perspective to generate a warped view of the virus. And when reality doesn't match this warped view, people say the world experts don't really know, and they are trying to hide the truth to keep people calm.
