I think I’m really going to love the area.
I grew up in N LA, went to school in BR, and lived in NO for 14 years (still live there)
Monterey, Carmel is heaven on fricking earth. Two things you notice really quick, the food is really good (fresh) and there isnt a local yokel cop or depty sheriff on every street.
I'll be back out end of June and I'll buy you a beer or three at the Dustbowl (really good beer)

I appreciate that. My moms mom died of brain cancer when she was an infant, so I definitely understand what you’re saying about your dad. Looking back, you wish they would have pushed you in the right direction when you didn’t know any better but you also can’t be mad at them because they didn’t get that themselves.
I think about this often, it’s a personality thing IMO. Some people try and fix it while others just repeat the cycle. I notice it with other peoples parent that seem to not care, I wonder how they can be so oblivious to how important their role is in mentoring their children and not just providing for them

I think seeing the shortcomings within my father powered my brother and I to become better fathers ourselves...understanding where our own father could've done better

I think the main bullet point here is someone has to step up, or young people are doomed.
What are your thoughts?
I would say so.
