If you don’t think at least 6M were killed during the course of the holocaust (including einsatzgruppen activities on the eastern front), where did all of the mothers, fathers and children who just ceased to be throughout Europe go? If you’re saying (for arguments purpose) only 2M died in the camps, where’d the other 4M magically vanish to?

From my limited understanding, the current number is from census data before and after the war plus writings from German generals and administrators. If we are being honest, that isn't very scientific. I would guess both would have reasons to inflate/deflate their reporting.

I think many were exterminated but not 6 million.
I don't know how long the concentration camps ran but if they ran 4 years 6 million would be 4,106 people each day, 7 days a week.
How many camps were there?
Each of the 23 main camps had subcamps, nearly 900 of them in total. - literally from googling the question
That is a lot but all I have to go on is what people say. I sure as shite wouldn't deny it.
