And for everyone down voting me for disclaiming the fed: where's my link to apply? Don't give me bs about it is in a bill. Where's my link? Cause I will apply for it right now.

The additional $600 will be issued through the state's unemployment office. You'll have to wait for them to issue guidelines on how to claim it.

Small business owners will be the biggest losers in this.
This is true, why would a guy making $14.00 an hour want to go to work when he can collect a government check for almost double while sitting in his apartment smoking weed and playing video games. I own a small business and I’m worried that my guys will quit and claim unemployment despite the fact that we have been deemed an essential service and have work booked for the next 6 months.

I wouldn't think so.

There are provisions in there for self employed and 1099 employees to collect unemployment. Not sure how they work, but they are in there.

In AK they are not unless they're eligible to work another job full time. Self employment usually doesn't pay in to the trust fund.

no link. Heard Mnuchin talk about it at Trump's presser today. Each state has their own system and rules, so they decided to make it easy and add a flat $600 on top of what you normally get.

Senate is debating the bill tonight. It'll pass.

This board has shown it's true colors the past two weeks.
Self centered is just scratching the surface.

Doubtful.

So I was right though: there is no federal unemployment benefits program

It's amazing how quickly they support Socialism when they are they ones who need the help.

Yes there is. Employers pay both federal and state unemployment taxes.

quote:

The U.S. Department of Labor's unemployment insurance programs provide unemployment benefits to eligible workers who become unemployed through no fault of their own and meet certain other eligibility requirements. Unemployment insurance is a joint state-federal program that provides cash benefits to eligible workers.

So I have a question for the experts here.

I was forced to use vacation time due to cutbacks in staffing related to low patient census. Can I claim this on the stimulus package benefits?

You own a business and think your guys can just quit and collect unemployment? C'mon man...it doesn't work like that.

No. But you should definitely be leaning on your employer to do you right once things settle down.

People have been laid off their jobs, but still have bills to pay. They are literally not allowed to go to work, and your response is, “Let them eat cake.”
