That would be Homer spit not split. The lodge at the end of the spit is called Land’s End, and boy is it ever. I’ve stayed there several times.

Nice. I’m actually in Homer right now. The sirens went off as I was having some salmon dinner on the couch. Spit emptied out real quick.

Yeah they’ve had several sirens after the initial one. My GFs sister is a seismologist, she’s saying it’s got some potential to frick up Kodiak pretty good....we will see...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Update: NOAA’s National Tsunami Warning Center Director Dr. James Gridley said all advisories and warnings related to a magnitude-7.8 earthquake late Tuesday night have been dropped. A wave of less than 30 centimeters was recorded in Sand Point and nothing has yet been measured in Kodiak as of around 12:30 a.m., Gridley said.

“We’ve canceled the advisories because it doesn’t look like it’s becoming a large wave or any larger,” Gridley said, “and we are monitoring everything within the warning area to determine exactly what we should do in our next message.”

Areas that were predicted to see a wave are still expected to see one, but Gridley estimates the waves will be less than 30 centimeters.

So in other words, John Holmes schlong is bigger than the wave.

It would be pretty interesting to see the effects of a tsunami on Portland and Seattle. I mean I wouldn’t want it to actually happen but I wonder if they could handle catastrophic flooding and subsequent anarchy better than New Orleans.

Those cities would become a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah post astroid. Their idealogy fit the biblical story as well.

Some serious geography buffs here.

Portland is a good hour or more from the coast and the Oregon coast has huge cliffs along it. I think they’ll make it.

Seattle is a little more at risk, but positioned on the Pudget Sound, there is little risk of a tsunami doing much damage to the city.

Was in Alaska in early 90's when a 7.8 earthquake hit. Picture yourself on the top of a bunkbed and have someone shake it as hard as they can. Thats what a 7.8 earthquake feels like.

Have you ever seen a map of the US before? How is a tsunami going to hit either of those cities?

Both cities need a good cleansing.

Just watched a NatGeo doc on how that area is a ticking time bomb for a monster earthquake and tsunami. Showed there was a huge one years ago that the tsunami from it hit Japan in hours. Crazy stuff.
