How far from North Baton Rouge would you move?

39.4% + state taxes.
I could live of $200,000,000.

Take the annuity with guaranteed interest, and move to a no income tax state to draw the remaining 19 annual payments.

You get taxed in the state the ticket was purchased.

To save 6 percent? Compound 4% investment earnings for 19 years and holla back at me

Power Ball and Mega Millions are both 30 payments.

bullshite, it would be determined based upon your residence when the money was paid out.
"Of the 43 states that participate in multistate lotteries, only Arizona and Maryland tax the winnings of nonresidents."
If I bought a ticket in Louisiana I would pay no state tax what-so-ever because I live in Texas.
Don't give advice on something when you don't have a clue.
You can also leave lottery annuity payments after you pass with no tax liability to the beneficiary. They will only pay taxes for what is paid to them on a yearly basis.

Actually, Mega you would receive 70% of the annuity value and pay 49.6% in taxes for everything over 400k something. If you take the annuity you get the full value plus the taxes paid would be less because you get to pay 10, 15, 25, 28, 33 & 35 on the payment until you go well over 400k each year.

Oh, I thought this thread was going to be about state bids for research on traffic improvements were up for grabs

I'm chill. People shouldn't be giving bullshite information as fact when they don't know what the heck they are talking about. Lottery or no lottery. You won't see me in a thread stating facts on law precedence.
If it's bullshite I call bullshite, don't care if it's when LSU is playing a game or simple arithmetic - if you don't know, don't say. The poster spewed crap, if he can't handle being called out he shouldn't have posted BS.

Don't seem very chill.
Breath in, out, and relax.
Here's some better advice: hire someone if you win the lotto

You can guarantee taxes aren't going up for the next 30 years?

If I win I'm going to buy up NBR and bulldoze the area. The city will erect a statue of me on the I-10 merge.

I bet you're a lot of fun at parties

I probably know enough about the lottery, taxes and finance that I can save the expense of hiring someone to do it for me. NOW, on the other hand you and the guy who knows that you pay taxes based on where you buy the ticket should probably hire multiple people to help with the most basic transactions.

Because if someone comes in spewing shite as fact I will tell them they are full of shite? The fact that someone would spew shite as fact probably means that they wouldn't be at the party to begin with, so it wouldn't cause any problems with me.
