I'm 64 and I could knock all of that out in less than 30 minutes.

I can do them all except:
quote:

5. Be able to do the sit and raise test
quote:

3. Farmer carry bodyweight for 2 minutes
and Maybe
quote:

Dead hang for 2 minutes

The sit and raise test is hard AF.

quote:

How to do the test
Stand barefoot in comfortable clothing
Cross your legs
Lower yourself to the floor in a criss-cross position without using your hands, knees, arms, or thighs
Stand back up without using anything but your legs

Scoring
Start with a score of five points
Subtract one point for each hand, forearm, knee, or side of the leg you use for support
Subtract half a point for losing your balance
Add up your points for a final score

Hanging for 2 min also seems like a long arse time. And farmer carrying your bodyweight, I don't think I've ever seen anyone
do that.

Is this for handicapped people? I believe I could do all that at 80.

Honest question: Does "unbroken" pull-ups or pushups mean no breaks, or you just don't stop and reset (let go of bar then continue, put knee down for a second then continue...)

I would think no breaks. the complete part of the pullup is what gets most people. 95% of people who do pullups never get back to the dead hang position before the next rep

I'm thinking this is when you can sit on the floor and get back up without using your hands. I can't do that. I don't have that hip mobility.

All the rest I can do fairly easy at 36. I'd hope I can still do all those at 40. I'd throw run a 10 min. mile in that list too. And some kind of jumping. Too many people stop running and jumping when you hit 30.

ETA: Reading again, dead hang for 2 min is wild. In shape younger people can barely do that.

This is straight out of Peter Attia’s book about setting yourself up early in life to obtain healthspan vs just lifespan. This isn’t supposed to be some difficult or impressive task. Just a measurement for foundation to build on.

I can't do 1, which makes sense because I hate running.

2 mins is a long time to hold two 120 pound dumbbells

Cannot do pullups, but I had 40% of a lung removed the hard way, I am relatively sure cutting through all that muscle and replacing with scar tissue means I will never be able to do a lot of pullups.

I assume he means this. Had to do it for P/T several years ago when checking my strength/flexibility

that's an Anatoly gimmick

I haven't done a pull up since I was in grade school and that was almost 50 years ago.

We used to have the president test every year in grade school: push ups, pullups, sit ups, had to run some distance, maybe a half mile in so much time and I can't remember the other tests.

A 100lb dumbell in each hand for 2 minutes isn't that hard with a good pair of gloves.

I bet 95% can’t

Could see the dead hang catching up to you when trying to do them for time, but for me the kip always gets me. Can do several without a kip, just too easy to get complacent and throw a kip in there. Especially, when doing them towards the end of a workout and fatigue is setting in.

I think I could most of these other than the mile at the moment. I think very few 40+ year olds could do 5 pull-ups unless they work out somewhat regularly. I’m a lighter guy and these tests far and away favor us.

I fear for my 10 minute mile time though. Tore knee ligaments 6 months ago. Getting old really sucks. This is my first post 40 injury where I’m realizing “oh shite do I just have a cranky knee forever now?”

Do you have to do them all at the exact same time? A dead hang while running a 10-minute mile seems almost impossible
