I’m happy to bet you on everything on that list, except dead hang and sit and raise. I farmers carry all the time with 160. Oh, and I won’t bet on squats. I do mine on the Smith to avoid injuring my back. I think I could free squat 175, but I’m not confident enough to bet.

So you’ll bet on all of it except half of it? Got it

I’m betting that what I posted was true. You said you doubted it. The only thing I posted that I don’t want to bet on, for fear of injury, is the body weight squat for which I posted “Barely”.

That’s pathetic and yes, I doubt you can farmers carry your body weight for 2 minutes. Carrying less than your body weight for less time in no way proves you can do that

The only one I would hesitate to be confident in without testing is the farmers carry. Two minutes is a long time for that heavy a farmers carry.

The rest is not even a challenge.

It’s pathetic that a 62 year old has a back issue that makes free squats dicey?

And as I said, I’m happy to bet you on the famers carry. I’m in Metairie, and I have a home gym. We’d have to hang 7.5s from my 80 pound dumbells, but I have them, so it would be easy. I’m going to do it tomorrow, in fact.

Take the bet. You don’t even have to put any money up. And I’ll take you to lunch after.

Whoops, just noticed you are in Brooklyn.

Can you sit and raise? I don’t think I could ever do that as an adult.

I'd bet everything I own that by "vast majority" on the 2 minute hang they mean 97-98% of 40+ year olds.

I haven’t tried before, but I do pistols so I think I could.

What are pistols?

NVM, googled it. That looks hard.

My wife just tried the sit and raise. If I had had any doubt it would have been erased when she couldn’t do it.

Farmer carry bodyweight for 2 minutes

Uh, no. A reasonably in shape 200 lb 40-year-old is not going to be able to walk around with a 100 lb dumbbell in each hand for 120 seconds. That's fricking ridiculous.

The more I look into this, the more I realize how ridiculous it was to even include this test. Elite performance athletes are carrying less weight for less distance than what they expect the average 40 yr old male to do. You would be walking with that much weight over a football field

It may be harder to do a sit and raise. I honestly don’t know. I’m going to try one at the gym tomorrow out of curiosity. But it seems like the skills would translate.

But yeah, the farmers carry one would be tough. Forearms would be burning after a minute.

ya'll are crazy if you think you can dead hang for a minute. Go try

I do them several times a week at the gym. I workout 5 days a week, lift very heavy, and am not overweight but I don’t usually hit 2 minutes. I actually do farmers Carries but I only weigh 165 so I’d only need 80s. I’ll load up the trap bar and do those too.

The diameter of the bar on the weights you are carrying for farmers carry matters a lot.

If you’re doing pistol squats (or any type of heavier resistance leg work that is more than your body weight) I doubt you’ll have any issues at all. We all do lots of this crazy shite at work all the time (physical therapy) and you have the older guys trying to outdo the younger guys. We can all do that one easy.

Yep. I’ll carry 45lb plates with a v type grip over a 40lb dumbbell or kettle ball because the gripping action is less taxing.

1. 10 minute mile - I can do about 6:30 2. Squat your own bodyweight - I barely can. 3. Farmer carry bodyweight for 2 minutes - Easily 4. Complete 5 unbroken pull-ups - I can do about 9 5. Be able to do the sit and raise test - Not sure what this is, but I probably can’t do it. 6. Complete 25 unbroken pushups - I can do 50 7. Dead hang for 2 minutes - I try this periodically. The most I’ve done is 1:40. Someone told me not to grip the bar but just to hang from the fingers. I’ll try that. I’m 62.

I just did the Indian sit thing easy as shite after 15 beers
