Sounds like DTHS really needs to check proof of residency MUCH harder next school year. The ONLY thing they've ever asked for at DTHS registration was a utility bill with the student's home address. It's very easy for someone to just put their name on a relative's water bill.
Yup. They check but it’s not very hard. I know offhand of some white students that live in EBR and go to Dutchtown. I’m sure there are plenty of minorities that are doing it.

I thought the opening of Prairieville HS was suppose to alleviate some of the overcrowding of AP schools, particularly Dutchtown HS. People keep throwing enrollment numbers like 2,700+ in this thread which is the same size as schools like Plano HS and Richardson HS, and comparable with other DFW suburban area High Schools. What gives?

Prairieville High School, a public four-year comprehensive high school, has a student body of 1387
They pulled from 3 different school districts, but it doesn't look like Dutchtown numbers dropped much. IMO, that indicates a lot of Baton Rouge and Gonzales kids illegally attending Dutchtown.
It's time to expand the proof of residency requirements.

According to the school system, the district has had to accommodate 350-400 new students every year for the last 10 years.
Figure 2 children per family, I don't think their building 200+ homes a year.
Something isn't right on these school attendance numbers.

It’s not doom casting. To be fair, my comments are related to a few primary and elementary schools, not high schools.
I guess you can take my comments at face value. I won’t out myself to prove a point but what I said in the post separate from what you quoted is absolutely true. I did say some schools. I can’t speak for all

This is the exact same reason Zachary High will soon be the next Istrouma High. I'm Black so I have extra authority to say the obvious but Black culture is very violent and destructive. Unfortunately, even many of the middle-class Black kids subscribe to this culture ... it's surpasses socio-economic class ... the hip hop music glamorizes being ignorant and violent. Black middle class kids are actually the least likely of middle class kids to stay middle class or improve their socio-economic status once they're adults. When I tell you guys it's bad bad.
Although I'm Black, I do not subscribe to Black culture. Are there some things I enjoy about Black culture and being Black? Yes, but way too much of it is straight garbage and dsyfunctional. I avoid Black majority restaurants, bars, and social events as best I can.
Even when I was in high school which was half Black and half non-Black ... 98% of the fights I seen were Black. It was embarrassing and reaffirmed stereotypes I was trying hard to break. Stereotypes are made not given. At my older age, I basically gave up praying the Black race will be saved and not in the lowest pits of hell where it is now

I can’t imagine raising kids today. Even the best public schools are glorified zoos and private schools aren’t much better with the amount of keeping up with the Joneses kids and parents have to contend with. Our society is so fricked.

Pull your kids out of public school.
Best decision I ever made

Some are decent. I would be fine sending my kid to Baton Rouge High, Central High, St Amant High, Denham Springs High, Dutchtown High, and maybe a few others. But the list is definitely smaller than what it was in the 90s and early 00s

It’s because they didn’t force the students that live in that district to switch if they have been going to Dutchtown.
I passed by P’ville high the other day and the student parking lot was almost empty. The only ones that switched were ones that wanted to play sports and couldn’t make the team at Dtown. Dutchtowns student parking lot is as full as last year. Zero change. In a couple years it will even out more.

It dropped a good bit this year with the opening of Prairieville High. It had the largest enrollment of any public school in Louisiana. Doubt that’s still the case.

I was thinking the same.
This was the explanation I was given-
Juniors and seniors were given the option to remain at Dutchtown.
For this reason, Prairieville’s senior class size is 125, the junior class is a little over 200.
They expect Dutchtown’s enrollment to decrease over the next couple of years and that students will be eventually evenly distributed amongst the schools.
My daughter is at Prairieville, my son is at Dutchtown.
