I'm not saying you should panic, but it's certainly something you should monitor and not simply dismiss.

Like I said, it's the chance you take. Maybe you'll regret it, maybe you won't.

As they say, life comes at you fast. Until 55, I had never stayed overnight in a hospital or had surgery (unless you count a vasectomy). Never had prescription drugs other than maybe short term antibiotics. At 60 I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, partially chronicled here on this board. I am NOT for big Pharma and the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex but when life and death are in the balance you will do things you didn’t think you would. I want to believe they’re in it to heal people, but I have my doubts.

There is so much wrong in your statement. And I didn't say you should take medication. I said if it's borderline you should monitor it and not simply ignore it.

For those who have "elevated" cholesterol treating it isn't to merely tack a couple of years onto the end of their life; it's to reduce the probability of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular events (which could greatly "shorten" their life.

You don't know anyone because people get treated with antibiotics for strep now. There are several complications that can occur if strep is left untreated

That's not surprising. Medications that folks are likely taking daily:

- Blood pressure medication
- Cholesterol medication
- Birth control
- Diabetic medication
- Thyroid medication

That probably covers a good percentage of that 60%+ (especially if you include women and BC).

I've not needed prescription drugs so far these 43 years of my life.

When my first child was born, I had to go to start going to the pharmacy for antibiotics and such at the CVS on Lee/Highland. I was floored by the sheer volume of bags of prescription meds just sitting there.

Having had both strep and sore throat from a viral URI, I can tell you that you know when you have strep.

As for this comment, when I worked at a walk-in clinic between undergrad and med school, half of our patients were coming for sore throats and wanting a strep test.

None here, $2200/month for health insurance makes me want to join the party though

I take 8 daily. 1 every 2 weeks and i have 2 that are as needed. But my health is a shite sandwich
