So teachers can't afford to adjust their lifestyle? They may be working, but they are not fulfilling their positions full responsibilities. Any other profession, outside of politics, if you can't do your job, and all of your job, then you shouldn't expect to be compensated for your full job.

That's an asinine statement. Some jobs can be done just as efficiently, if not moreso, from home. Teaching is not one of those professions.
There is a reason why classrooms are smaller when kids are young. Why do you think that is?

There are these neat things called reductions in pay. They happen. Not teaching in person is a 100% justifiable reason for a reduction in pay.
The comment I replied to suggested teachers should be getting unemployment.
You fricking idiot.

Totally dependent on the field and how much of what your job is you can actually accomplish from home. I'm getting a real clear picture of how you got laid off.
I got laid off because everyone that did field work at my company was laid off. I can't do my job from home.
You fricking idiot.

No, I've found plenty of better opportunities. They don't hire as quickly, a lot of companies are pushing off hiring decisions, and a lot of people are looking for jobs.
You fricking idiot.

If we're being honest, a paycut for most folks working from home would probably be reasonable. I know the OT is just as productive at home and all that jazz, but working from home is a benefit in and of itself. Hell, many people would have taken a small cut to work from home pre-covid.

No, you're pissed off at me from the other thread, and you're bringing it here.

Are you willing to relocate? What industry?

A lot of companies are doing that.

Cool you know 1 person out of thousands....
Oh course you are also implying the math for marketing and that of 4th grade is the same by that comment.
Which would lead me to believe that those in marketing are only as smart as a fourth grade student.
I know tons of "educators". I was just giving you an example of one of the many I happen to know. I also know another person, who rose to a VERY high position in education. Let's just say, I have never been wowed by his intellect.
Let's face it, teaching social studies, basic math, and reading isn't exactly a job only a person with a high IQ can do. Although I do respect what they do, I'm not ready to put teachers on a pedestal and make them out to be some kind super hero. That being said, a lot of teachers don't want to go back to the classroom, but have no issue shopping at Wal-Mart. Why is it the average Wal-Mart worker can be around the public for 8 hours/day, and no one blinks an eye, but teachers are a special case?

So 2 working parents can't afford to adjust their lifestyle and make sure their kids are taken care of?
$1,000+ a month in daycare costs suddenly thrust into the family budget? A lot of 2 working parent households would have issues with that.

Because the media gave them a sense of entitlement and compare them to Easy Company of the 501st the night before D-Day.
Not all teachers are entitled and refuse to work. Just the more vocals ones on facespace.

Yes, but I've been getting interviews locally, so I haven't found it necessary.
I am going back to work full time in September, if I haven't found something better before then.

It is the exact opposite talking to a buddy of mine who is in IT. They offered him more if he didn't need office space. He had been working for a large local company, then got hired on to another local place that was basically the same job, and he went in 2 days a week for meetings. Then he moved to another employer, based out of state, although they have offices in our area. If he needed a workspace in the office, his offer letter stated a certain salary. If he could perform his work from home, they gave an extra 2% in base salary. They also pay for half of his high speed internet each month. Much cheaper, and many smart companies are realizing the overhead costs of a fully staffed large office building is insane, when most work can be done from home if you are just working on a laptop in the office all day anyway.

shite, I don't remember if you are the one that owns Nooley's or not. But food service places can take a reduction in pay as well since they are doing mostly take out orders and not dealing with people.
