In awe of everything from his raunchiness to his skill with sheer volume, members of Pixies, Yes, Parliament-Funkadelic, Thin Lizzy and more celebrate the guitar god, who died 50 years ago today

i remember my parents being concerned when i took a liking to hendrix at a very young age. i was very confused but i get it now and their concerns were 10000% valid

If there was ever a musician that LSD had too much of an influence on, it was Jimi Hendrix. Think about where his talent would have taken him with the blues had he not fried his brain with everything in Owsley’s suitcase.

I'm 64. We had a music teacher, 7th or 8th grade. Old lady, but liked all music. Walked into class that morning visibiy upset telling us he passed.

Just to name two, LSD fricked up Syd Barrett and Roky Erickson so bad they could barely function
