That sounds so much better than just saying 35,000. Thirty-five thousand Americans are killed by fricking guns. Every year. And this doesn't bother you?

Around half are suicide

A good chunk is gang related violence from thugs attacking other thugs in big cities.

In my opinion, lowering the accessibility to all firearms, and heavily restricting semiautomatic weapons will greatly reduce the number of innocents killed, and will reduce the ease for so many to become the guilty.

You’re focusing on mass shooting events, which are horrible but statistically insignificant.

Vast majority of criminals illegally acquire their guns and will continue to do so regardless of the laws.

Criminals in Mexico are very well armed despite strict gun control. Terrorists use AK-47s in countries with strict gun control.

Guns exist, and wishing they didn’t does no good.

So at best, the positive of restrictions on semi autos is you could make it more difficult for some mass shooters to acquire weapons. The negative is that every law-abiding citizens ability to protect themselves would be greatly diminished.

I'd say guns are out of control in this country, regardless of assailant's race and choice of target. shite, if I post "Implement gun control now." on every thread about a shooting, I'd challenge SFP for first to a million.

Dumbass. I didn’t use all caps.

In a former life, you would have been a Tory or Lobsterback. Keep the colonies safe. Yeah right.

Why don’t you drag your worthless carcass back to England and work on the Muslim issue? Plenty of gun control there should make you blooming proud.

However knife violence is setting all time records.

Thank you for a reasoned response. What I would challenge you to do is look more towards ten years after a semiautomatic restriction. As more and more guns come off the street, with drastically fewer being reintroduced, the value of each gun goes higher and higher.

The tipping point is when the crime lords (who in truth will still have badass illegal guns) no longer allow the dipshit thugs to carry, since each gun that gets confiscated is another $10k hit to the bottom line.

As to home protection and hunting, single action revolvers and pump action shotguns would still be legal, along with bolt action rifles. All of those can get the job done. Lowering firearm lethality in this manner would certainly save lives.

Another year of knife violence in England.

Take the guns then the knives come out and the law abiding citizens become easy prey.

You are a fricking naive lunatic. Most likely a low level bureaucrat.

fricking dumbass.

Admittedly worse than the cleaning power of sterling silver on soiled Apple Jacks.

Prohibition creates deadly black markets. Any firearms ban will do the same.

Semi autos are here in incredible numbers, they aren't going away regardless of legality.

Only the lawful gun owner will be affected.

In your utopia, you’d probably rather everyone use solar powered scooters and petition to allow kumbaya to be sung in the mosque.

You are a threat to American civilization. fricking do-gooder POS.

Also, the text you linked literally states "... that can create a climate of fear in which more people go armed, leading to a dangerous cycle of violence." You helped my argument more than your own

80% of gun crime is not committed with legally owned firearms, but more laws right?

Washington Post

And that theory about crime bosses not using guns in 10 years because they will be too expensive is an embarrassingly naive thing to say among adults. What percentage of gun crime do you think happens at the behest of a "crime boss". My god, man.

Semi autos are by far the most common type of firearms in the US. And we don't really know who owns them, by design.
