Maybe they will add the water company to the lawsuit. It’s the water that’s the cause….

Shouldn't they really blame the water and not the vessel it's contained in?

Exactly. All you have to do is fall in.

So we need to recall gravity.

I think you’re missing the point. Because in-ground pools are easily accessible we fence them off so toddlers can’t get to them. Above ground pools are thought to be inaccessible for toddlers, so no fence is required. These above ground pools provide climbing holds that make them accessible, so they are dangerous.

On the other I can guarantee 100% that designers of these pools knew that adding straps mid-height was going to be a foothold for kids. Zero chance this wasn't pointed at and someone decided to ignore it.

I doubt it. It would be easily mitigated by making the straps taper to the pool so that they could not be used as hand/foot holds.

nope. zero chance.

Anyone who spends anytime at all in drowning prevention would spot those straps as a ladder mechanism immediately.

Insurance requires locks on all gates into the pool area. My biggest write up on inspections, “no lock on gate”

I’m the guy you don’t want to see. Fine print says the underwriter has the right to inspect at anytime.

Yeah? What about people who don’t spend time in drowning prevention?

??

You have to assume at some point in the conception phase to market, someone with a safety background looked at these designs. You wont convince me otherwise.

But the real issue is people having pools at their home while also having non-swimming kids living there. If a kid can walk they should be in survival swimming lessons.
A simple step ladder is going to thwart any attempts to prevent access. There is no such thing as a completely safe pool when non-swimmers are around.

I’m still pissed they banned rock-n-plays because some absolute retards left their infants in them all day and they suffocated

When our twins were born we bought 2 from another couple that had twins prior. Those things were only way we could get things done in spurts because it would occupy them just enough. The idiots that would just throw their kid in there and then not watch had to ruin a very good thing.

I bet some folks had buyers remorse after they barely used their above ground pool and are getting a get-out-of-jail-free card.

The proof is in the pudding. You are implying that it’s unbelievable that this could be due to incompetence, an assumption I’m comfortable with. I am saying that it’s even more unbelievable this could be due to evil, especially when they had to have known it would end in deaths and lawsuits. Incompetence comes closest to satisfying Occam’s Razor, plus it is the cause predicted by Hanlon’s Razor.

Couldn't they also just...climb up the ladder?
