The neighbor in the article says the kids were always dressed dirty looking and tried drinking water out of the neighbor's yard when both parents lived there. And the mother had been gone out of the house for 2 years and they had joint custody.

I was wondering how, if she had been gone for 2 years, the man had a 1 year old child that was hers. Unless she was expecting when they split up...and what kind of bat shite crazy bitch would let her kids be raised by this dude? From what the article says and from what I've heard on the news here in SC, the kids never knew what it was like to feel safe, secure, loved and protected. This literally makes me sick to my stomach and mad as hell.

Sounds like the neighbors are pieces of shite too... they have all kinds of disturbing shite to say now that the kids are dead. Why didn't one of them alert the authorities in the previous 7 fricking years that they noticed these kids living in deplorable conditions.

Yeah....they could have easily called CPS(or whatever it's called there) and filed a report. Someone would have HAD to come out and investigate the claim.
Seems like they could have called with concerns that the kids weren't in school. I would think they would then have to come out and interview dad and realize he isn't Mr Homeschool at all

Kids not in school and dirty... trying to drink water from the neighbor's outdoor spigot which means they probably didn't even have running water in their house. Seven fricking years you live next to this and never think to help these kids.

The only explanation they seem to allude to is that they "didn't want to start any trouble." It's sickening that these people thought more of being inconvienced than they did of these children's safety and overall well-being. That's the backwoods of the Batesburg-Leesville area for you, though.
