If you find a 1 bedroom apartment for $600/month in Lake Charles, I hope you own Kevlar and a car no one would want to break into. Rent has been insane here since Laura

Does $1500/mo cover the twice yearly hurricane evacuations and staying in hotels for weeks until the power comes back?

I don’t know if there’s an apartment in this state I would live in that’s less than $1,000/month, at least

$600?

Wasn't rent an issue even before the Hurricanes with all the people moving in for the construction on the LNGs and other projects?

What these cities seem to have in common is a lot of poor people. This seems to bring the average expenditures down.

What you're paying for is a very poor standard of living.

If you're retiring and still paying rent, you're in trouble.

I would imagine that homeowners insurance in Lake Charles is no joke.

1,500 a month -

$420 in health care
$608 in rent
$382 in groceries

still got $90 a month for electricity, cell phone, booze, and hookers

My monthly cost to keep my home (taxes, insurance repairs and maintenance)when paid off will be close to if not more than the amounts of rent in that article

My guess is they don’t take into account taxes and insurance costs in Louisiana.

Most bullshite list I've ever come across. I lived in Midland after college in 2014 for 3 years. My one bedroom apartment was $1,300/month, 599 square feet. So they're telling their readers that the average rent in $716? Can't imagine the shitholes they're talking about.
