4th of July Menu, US Submarine Base - Pearl Harbor 1944

The only WWII menu for the 4th of July that I ever saw.. and they were having Turkey... Most menus I have and or seen were all T-Day, and Christmas... I enjoy menus for some reason.. Even if they are all almost the same.

Same menu now but the base ingredient is high fructose corn syrup.

I don't know... I don't have the Navy CookBook... I have the WWII Army cookbook.. But now you got me searching. lol

Wow, that looks to be in great condition. There's hardly any yellowing from age like with most old ephemera.

The Thanksgiving and Christmas day menus when I was deployed were incredible.

All you could eat steak, lobster tails, etc.

Made being away from home not suck for a day.

Captain Aldrich, base commander, previously served as a Lieutenant in the Yorktown where he was damage control officer. That should tell you something of his service. Looks like they ate well as far as special meals go.
