The fallacy is that it is inevitable. It's not. But when those in power continue to rig the system to the benefit of the privileged class, well my friend they you've got yourself a plutocracy and/or oligarchy. A true capitalistic society cannot fully thrive in a plutocracy and/or oligarchy.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Lot of comments in here that it is solely the fault of the individuals. I'd mostly agree with that for most of the sample, however I do think there are systemic and societal factors to are causing it as well. Like most things, it's way more nuanced than many posts in this thread want to pretend it is.
