20K miles on a set of Goodyears? Sounds like you don't take care of them at all.
Not really unheard of. My wife (no pics, sorry) has 30k miles on her Camry and is on her last couple thousand miles. Her's are Bridgestone and those are some shite tires IMO. She has her's rotated every 5k miles as part of the warranty when she got the car.

Again, this is because Toyota specified the tire and Bridgeston built them one that puts ride, and noise at the top priority. If you have a tire that rides great and is quiet, that tire isn't going to last long. OR in a sporty model if you have a tire that handles great, it won't last long. Aftermarket tires are available in several different grades that compromise more so maybe the ride won't be quite as nice, or as quiet, but the tire will last longer, or maybe the handling won't be quite as sharp, but the tire will last longer, or you could go the other extreme, maybe you want better handling, in which case there is a tire for that too, it will handle better, but both be louder, ride harsher, AND not last as long.
The fact that your Bridgestones only lasted 30K miles doesn't mean Bridgestones are junk, it means those tires were not designed to last long on purpose.

Nah, man, they junk. It's pretty known across the tire industry. I'm no expert, but when I ask around to people that are that's seems to be the standard.
Sorry if you work for Bridgestone, bro.

Would you recommend these?

I drive around 4k mi/mo, 80% highway, sunny and dry.
How often should I be rotating at that mileage?
ETA: Thanks for dropping some legit tire knowledge on the OT this Friday.

LOL I don't work for Bridgestone and in fact if you had read the thread you would know that I am actually a fan of Hankook tires. I merely explained to you why your Bridgestones didn't last very long
PS anyone who tells you Bridgestones are junk is just trying to push another brand, they are not junk, and actual facts prove that

I had a pair of 80k mile Michelins that I got a legit 134,587 miles out of. That was on a lightweight Honda Civic and almost all highway miles but still.
If your looking for lasting tires go tough them in person. Press your fingernail in various tires and get a feel for the hardness of the compound. Harder compounds last longer but softer compound usually grip better. Its a tradeoff of safety vs. longevity although tread design makes a big difference on grip as well.
Also, wet weather grip shouldnt be ignored in the deep south.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but discount tire has huge sales during labor day. May want to check them out online

I didn't read everyone's response, I admit that, but the people that I've asked had plenty of experience with cars/tires but don't sell them. They also didn't use the word "junk" they just "highly advised against" because there are much better tires out for the same or cheaper prices of Bridgestone.
I also totally understand that with reduced road noise or other features you may reduce tire life but comparing apples to apples (standard tire quality grade) I find it hard to lean the Bridgestone way. I know that each brand grades a little differently but it's not that hard to find out how to find the common ground. That's JMO though.

I mean yeah if that's the tire you want and need, it's a great tire, but with a z rating , rotating isn't going to much of an issue b/c those tires just aren't going to last more than 40K miles no matter what you do.
I personally believe rotating tires is over rated. If your vehicle is properly aligned and running straight you aren't going to see enough extra wear out of the tires to justify the cost of either time to rotate your own tires or of paying someone to do it for you. But that's just me.
What sort of vehicle is this anyway?

I'll give those a look. I'm about to trade it in so it will be a while before I need tires. I usually get about 70k out of the Michelins that come on the F-250

That's pretty good, 70K miles on them < I can definitely see why you're reluctant to change brands

Just had a Firestone in Metairie price match a tire from Tire Rack. You can always check around to see if any shops will do that for you.

Just replaced a set of Michelins on my wife's SUV, had 98k on them. Needless to say I went back with the same exact tire. Don't know shite about tires but I know that tire out lasted any tire I have ever had on a car.

Just got 4 new tires installed on my car last week. I went with Uniroyals. Uniroyal was bought out by Michelin 6 years ago so they're actually producing decent tires now. Mine have a 70,000 mile warranty and the cost me just over $400 total.

If the Goodyears you had were Viva, those are piss poor tires. Yokohama's are anything but shitty.

I agree with a few others hankooks are good and walmart/Sam's has them. I replaced a set of runflats on a vette and loved them

I recently got 4 LT 285/70R17 Ironman All Country tires installed on my son's truck. I am friends with the dude who owns the shop and he got the tires for me at cost so I got 4 installed for $690. I'd say $1,000 doesn't sound too bad for 18" tires.
