So basically you have nothing and revert to being a little bitch. Also I didn’t make up the rules. It’s federal law.
I'd say pointing out that your post effectively means nothing is something. Sorry about it. But hey, if it makes you feel better, you are technically correct. I guess you can always hold out hope that statutory citizenship will be taken away before your time. Whatever keeps you warm at night.

t doesn’t but just because you don’t like the statute doesn’t mean they aren’t citizens now
And it is considered part of our country right now - which is the part of the code I included
I didn’t say they aren’t citizens. It’s just with any federal law that can change with acts of congress that become new laws.
They are not part of our country. Which of the United States of America is Puerto Rico in??
quote:I don’t know current rules, but I went to Mexico and just needed to show my drivers license. Was Mexico part of the US then???
If we can get there without a passport, it’s part of our country
Edit: the since 2009 requirements I had written are currently more complicated.

Weak. You admit I am “technically” correct but still try to say being correct effectively means nothing.

Just because you don’t agree with the law, doesn’t mean it’s not the law.
I have nothing culturally in common with Beyoncé, Shakira, or JLo either - but I guess you give them a pass because they shook their tits and asses on stage.
And last time I went to Mexico, I needed my passport - which was inconvenient bc I lived there before that was ever necessary. But my Spanish is that good, so no way La migra knew if I was a us citizen or not.

Why is it people don't understand this?
What we dont understand is why they prefer to alienate the other 300 million? Do the math. 300 million English speaking Americans for an American product spending American money already bought in vs attempting to draw in maybe 100 million fickle, mostly very poor, fans that only care long enough to watch the halftime show. Sounds like good business to me. This ain't fricking soccer, or futbol as they prefer to call it. It was a pure political play by liberal media moguls no different than the gay/black push of recent years. Both are losing sum business models. Obviously that pales in comparison to jabbing Trump and the white man. Priorities, you know.

So, most of America didn't like Prince or Tom Petty or Michael Jackson or Bruno Mars, or Coldplay, or Maroon 5, or Madonna, or Justin Timberlake, etc???
No, this is an obvious politically calculated move to virtue signal to a minority demographic each year that specifically started after the Summer of Mostly Peaceful Protests. Snoop/Dr Dre, The Weekend, Rhiana, Kendrick. This year, Bad Bunny is for ICE protestors.

Nope. Doesn’t have full constitutional protections.
quote:
Puerto Rico has a republican form of government based on the American model, with separation of powers subject to the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the United States. All governmental powers are delegated by the United States Congress, with the head of state being the President of the United States. As an unincorporated territory, Puerto Rico lacks full protection under the U.S. Constitution.[116]
quote:
Downes v. Bidwell
The Constitution does not necessarily apply to territories. Instead, Congress has jurisdiction to create law within territories in certain circumstances, particularly those dealing with revenue, which would not be allowed by the Constitution for states within the union.
… Territories were due the full protections of the Constitution only when Congress had incorporated them as an "integral part" of the United States. The court's doctrinal statement distinguished the District of Columbia from all other territories by observing that it had been derived from land that was within state boundaries. The court said that, once Congress extended the Constitution's full reach to that land, Congress lacked the power to withdraw it by any means.
Puerto Rico is not an integral part of the US.
quote:You are applying the wrong law. PR is not in the official United States. Just because they can move freely and by statute (not the constitution) are citizens does not put it in the official US.
Just because you don’t agree with the law, doesn’t mean it’s not the law.
Other limits
quote:
… Puerto Rico is represented in the U.S. Congress by a nonvoting delegate to the House of Representatives
…Outside of certain government employees the citizens of Puerto Rico do not pay federal income taxes.
…Residents of Puerto Rico, including other U.S. citizens, cannot vote in U.S. presidential elections but can vote in primaries. Puerto Ricans who become residents of a U.S. state or Washington, D.C. can vote in presidential elections.

Albeit, a really stupid, not well thought out one because the guy is a US citizen and would not be a target of ICE. But fig bunny’s threatening to wear a dress and all sorts of LGBTQ stuff got this shite a lot of hype.
The people in charge of this stuff do not care about the regular person who keeps this country running, and so many people are so caught up in keeping up with the Joneses, there’s no way they’re going to miss out on something everyone is going to watch. In the last recession, Starbucks expanded - not closed - people don’t boycott or give up anything anymore.
The media keeps feeding us shite we don’t need - RFK has a point on so many levels.

The main point is that your comment about not needing a passport equates to PR being in the US was ignorant.
You are being ignorant because you are ‘ignoring’ the fact that PR is a US territory and therefore part of the US.
You can argue all you want, and the law may change in the future. But as if right now - it is part of the US.
And you know why you need a passport to get into Canada and Mexico - because they are not a part of the US. However, you do not need one to get to Puerto Rico or Guam because - guess what?!?! - they are a part of the US.
quote:because you think bad bunny shouldn’t perform because he’s not a part of our country - lots of people who have performed the Super Bowl halftime show have not been US citizens. And then there are US citizens who I think are terrible representatives of our country - like Beyoncé, JLo, and who the frick made Snoop Dogg an ambassador? (I know that’s the Olympics)
what the frick does this even mean? Quit letting your emotions get the best of you.
Bad bunny is one of the least embarrassing things to happen - and I think that half time show sucked.

You are pulling emotional shite out of your arse again.
I didn’t think bunny should perform because he only performs in Spanish, I hate Spanish rap/hip hop/Zumba music, and then later because he is a leftist gay turd who hates half of the US (the actual US not unincorporated territories like PR).
quote:you are being ignorant because you are emotionally involved somehow. I don’t know how. Don’t care. You need to objectively learn the legal differences between the United States and its unincorporated territories like Puerto Rico.

Yep.

Who is America appealing to? The 20 billion streams bad bunny got in 2025 you fricking smooth brained idiots. Why is the nfl playing games in Australia, Europe and South America? Prob def has nothing to do with trying to build the brand and increase viewership. Is that a hard concept to understand?

Why do people, including our president who is supposedly such a savvy businessman who def isn’t a draft dodging trust fund baby, have such a hard time understanding this incredibly basic principle of economics?

quote:Well, that seems pretty clear and straightforward.
All persons born in Puerto Rico on or after January 13, 1941, and subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, are citizens of the United States at birth.
Just for the record, the number of Hipanic or Latino people in the US is currently around 68 million or 20% of the population. That number is expected to grow to 85 million by 2035..

The NFL picked up a few more million viewers just for their halftime show. The young kids apparently love this guy my teenage son said so as we watched. Didnt understand a word he said but at least the eye candy dancing gave a nice distraction.

No other country is dumb enough to have 40 million Illegal Immigrants in it for one. Also, out of 200 something countries on earth only about 15 are dumb enough to offer birthright citizenship. We are about the only first world country that offers it. Our own stupidity especially the last 40 years has allowed us to become overrun by Illegal Immigrants.

Other countries. Trying to expand the NFL audience. It’s absolutely sad. It’s no longer the “NATIONAL Football League”.
