It is her 2cd year. She loves it and has fun with friends. That is all that it matters to me...she wants to do it, and she is having a blast competing with her team and enjoys the rewards that she accomplishes at competition. In gymnastics, everyone competes the 4 rotations (unlike some sports, some sit on the bench). And subtle brag, she is actually good...she placed 5th overall in state and been on the podium for all the meets last season.

Stop living vicariously through your daughter man. Just because you didn’t make it in gymnastics, it’s ridiculous to think she will. Let her be a kid.
She’s no Mary Lou Retton and neither are you.

That’s actually not bad.
ETA: I take that back. I thought that price included the steroids but now I’m thinking it doesn’t.

That story is about the expense side of the equation. Here is one on the income side of the equation.
A buddy of mine told me a story about a salesman he had. Last year, the salesman was pulling in close to $100k a year. His job required some overnight travel (maybe a week a month in total). He could make more if he traveled a bit more. Apparently, the salesmen at Traction Sports convinced the guy that his son (then 7 years old) was God’s gift to baseball and flag football (the kid also plays basketball). Games during the week, private lessons during the week, baseball tournaments during the summer, etc. kept him away from some (not all) of the activities. The guy took a pretty good pay cut and moved into inside sales just so he could be at all the games and practices. Now the guy is bitching he can’t afford to take his kids on vacations other than those associated with sports. Do people really take pay cuts so they can be at all their young kids sports activities?

If he were debt free then I’d get it
But he doesn’t need to bring her daughter to all these meets at this age

My little girl is 3, no way in hell will I be sending her to meets to compete at 6/7. I’ll wait til she’s much older to see if she sticks it out
Same reason why I’ll put her in martial arts and that’s to have fun

Do you want your kid to be an Olympian or what?

A good place will host mini meets at their location or close locations at that age

Seriously? Is there really a thing called travel cheerleading and does it really cost that much?

My parents paid like 80/month. I was high level, small gym, homeschooled, worked out with my coaches during the day. I was college ready and ruptured my achilles in my Sr. year. Was a diver for LSU for 1/2 a second

Yes sir, $450 charged on the card every month. Then there is private lessons at $75 an hr, competition fees, choreography, song production, costumes, warm up outfits (personalized of course), make up & hair and gym fees. There are other costs, but I try not to think about it.
