I think I may have some answers for the folks that said "I saw it live".

Earlier in the thread I said that my father was on the phone with Mr. Gary when he shot Jeff Doucet. My Dad actually heard the shot and turned to me and told me. I remember it showing up on the news almost immediately. The police report has the time of the shooting at 9:22 PM.

I remembered the events one way and was told that it came on the 10pm news. I didn't remember it that way. I called my brother who was also there and asked him about it. He said the same thing but he added something else. He said it was on the TV within about 10 minutes but no later than 15. The first version they showed was raw and completely unedited. For anyone watching this it would have appeared "live". Everyone that didn't see that particular portion of the broadcast saw the one at the 10pm news.

I called my Mom and asked her and she validated what my brother and I remembered.

Remember other than my household and the camera crew, no one was aware in real-time how far it was from the event until the broadcast.

i remember seeing it when it happened. They may have broke away to the story but watching it you felt it was live.

can someone provide a link or names of the NOLA incident that was mentioned here? I had never heard of that before.
