Eh. A lot of people do these travel gigs in their mid 20s and then quit them to settle down.

I’m not super familiar with this degree she has but I don’t think it takes 8 years.

full bachelors and ~28 months in a masters program.

so between 6.5-8 years usually depending on how many classes you take a semester in undergrad, what undergrad is in and how many summer courses you take.

it takes minimum of 6 years to grad in CAA. she had 124k in debt....how fast do you think she can settle down and stop traveling?

how do you supposed she meets her husband when she is bounding place to place every 6 months.

but lets say she starts at 24. how long does she have to work to pay off 124k in student loan debt? lets say she does it in 4 years

she moves back to where she wants to live...she is now 28 and she is not making close to 300k anymore and she will be working a ton. How fast do you think she meets her husband and settles down?

Ehh, a lot of these high paying travel gigs for folks over 30 yrs old are married and the spouse works "remote", so they travel the country to some desirable and some less desirable area's for a couple of months. Then they move on to the next contract.

To each his own.

Sister in law is a CRNA and makes 350k (not joking)

Much easier road to making good money than med school

CRNA's have to study the same as an anesthesiologist sans four years of medical diagnostics and treatment.

I don’t know what a reasonable non-travel salary is for an anesthesia assistant. I’ve mainly only been around CRNAs ant work and I really don’t know much about the anesthesia assistant world. And I’m pretty sure you don’t either.

Less than half of the states allow anesthesia assistants to work so they can’t necessarily be super picky.

Are you suggesting that over $200k for an engineer by 30 is normal? There's very few engineers outside of software that are making $300k. Most aren't engineers either, their engineering degree just got them there.

Look you can hate all you want, but most people also don't want to live in Louisiana like you do. I personally have no issue with that, just pointing out if you are a Chem E in Louisiana that's a hell of a rare field in regards to jobs nationwide.

not at all. i understand statistics.

nor did i claim it was, my response was to the a-hole saying enjoy your liberal arts degree because i pointed out that his opinion was asinine.

absolutely, very few make 200 and most of the time its from moving into management

I never claimed to want to live in LA. I live here because between nola and houston the pay for my field is way more than other parts of the country

But that doesnt change the fact that most of the travel assignments are in terrible places.

Eh, they are only terrible if you are there long term. Like I said my sister worked in Oakland, Spokane, Anchorage, etc. Most of her jobs were 60 days I think but they would often extend her if she wanted.

I don't know what this CAA worked, but the nurses work the 3 or 4 12s so my sister would routinely have 3-4 days off in a row to go explore the area, other parts of the state, etc.

You don't have to live where the job is located.

which is cool when you are young.....when you dont graduate until 24-26 and with 124k in student loan debt that is not a good thing to be able to start a family and certainly is prolly not the ideal situation for a wife which is what we were discussing.

it also is not as good of a gig as the OT makes it out to be

You keep bringing this up like its normal. Its likely very easy to get her degrees and certs for under $124k. That seems very high to me.
