No, not a penny from my ex. i don't need his money, he needed mine.

Don't need his SSI either. I worked as a teacher, librarian and in the private sector. I will get that when I am retirement age.

I can support myself as can my sis and my bf.

1) what are good websites or places to find such properties for sale (southeast La)?

Zillow or you can go parish to parish and look to see if their assessors office has land maps and it might provide that information.

3) no one wants it in their name. Can we make an LLC or "foundation" to own it for us?

Yall could go the LLC route, but do your homework first. But what about when all three of you are no longer around, who will get the property?

I would advise yall not to go the triplex route because the fire codes are different for a triplex than if yall built three individual structures. Well, I guess it can be designed as one living area, IDK.. But that's something to look into as well.

No nursing home. Alzheimer's runs in our family so a very strict DNR is in effect. I will not let her suffer. This is all part of part of the 3deal.

Sounds to me like you are trying to get the widowed sisters estate. I’d tell her to run like Carl Lewis from you.

Don't be.

He told me that for the the first time in decades that he actually looks forward to coming home.

He spent the last 10+ years with woman who cheated and expected him to support her 3 kids, while she never worked but spent everything on her BS. He finally had enough and left.

We met a few months later. He is a kind and good man. He has a rare heart.

I spoil and pamper him. He is getting older and had bad back issues (rods in his spine) but I get up early with him to put his socks on for him. I love doing that for him because i know how much he appreciates it.

He sometimes works 12hr/7d shifts so I spoil him when he is home. I wait on him hand and foot while he sits in his recliner. I bring him breakfast, lunch and whatever else he wants.

I love doing that because I know he missed out on that kind of love for so long.

To the other poster. medicaid cannot gtet the property as it will be in a protected status.

I'm not sure what you consider to be a "protected status". But I can tell you that Medicaid doesn't count the primary residence in its asset calculation only if the spouse of the person in the SNF is still living in your house. So you and your boyfriend should get a pass after you marry your boyfriend, but I'm not sure what "protected status" your sis-in-law would have.

There may very well be rules I'm unfamiliar with. The best advice I can give you is to ask your financial advisor about this. If he/she doesn't know, they'll at least know someone who does know.

Nope, that estate is all for her son and i would fight anyone who said any different. I would love to give this kid the world.

interesting, how my master plan to "get" my sister's estate involves me putting money into property that I have no desire to have my name on.

Please understand that we are having to have these conversations and look into these things because it is better to prepare while we can make choices to make life easier.

Oh this is not a 3 way suicide pact. One person has no history of Alz.

My sis and I do have family history of Alz but there is no suicide pact. All we need is our legal documents refusing all care when we have Alz.

You say you have a family history of Alzheimer's, but do you have the familial Alzheimer's gene? If so, you're definitely going to get it. But if you haven't been confirmed through gene testing, you may not have it. Aren't you an older lady in her late '50s or early '60s? Familial Alzheimer's makes up a very small percentage of Alzheimer's cases. I believe it's under 5% and might be like 2%, so it's very rare. The onset of symptoms typically starts much earlier than most Alzheimer's cases, like in your 40s. So if you were going to get it, you'd probably have it by now (if my age assumption is correct).

I'm not sure if you've got some kind of suicide pact with your sister, but if you don't, there could be a long period of time where you are experiencing Alzheimer's symptoms but have no physical issues that would involve a DNR. At least until you start walking into traffic or accidentally setting the house on fire.

What legal documents are you referring to? LA doesn't have a euthanasia law in place that I'm aware of. Unless you plan on flying to Oregon when you or her start losing your mind, somebody is going to have to take care of you. For years.

Great gram, granddaddy, mama and other relatives have all had it. My great gram passed it to my granddad, who passed it to my mom, (aunts, uncles, ) and now sis and I are both worried we are next. We have seen the hell it is. That is why we are making these agreements before anything happens.

With me, I have the added bonus of MS. (Which will get me first? )

I am not in my late 50's 0r 60's. I know I sound old because of my way due to my talk of retirement and health but I'm younger than that.

You are delusional if you think this will work out well. Why would you marry ? Just be together as you are.
