Never had a real tree in my life. Never understood why anyone would want to either.

The wife and kid insist on getting a real tree every year. And every year I hate it as I'm the only one who takes care of the tree. If I left it up to them, the tree would go up in flames like the Griswold's.

I may just go buy a fake pre-lit from Home Depot and dare them to say something.

12' pre lit tree. Roll it out, flip it over, put on the top and done.

Real trees are trash.

Upgraded my fake tree last year to a new fake tree with the pre-installed lights (multiple color schemes). Been using a fake tree for the past 10+ years and it’s just so damn easy. I don’t even disassemble it, just move it in and out to the storage shed in one piece before and after Christmas.

Fake trees? No thanks. I’ll deal with the inconvenience.

The only thing it lacks is that Christmas tree smell

A fake Christmas tree will never ever ever be the same as a real one. They are the same color and general shape, and you can hang stuff on them, but they look like fake versions of the real thing...because they are. It's a plastic version of a plant.

I'm not knocking them actually, but people keep saying the "only" thing different is the smell. Just no. It's like planting plastic flowers in your front yard and saying they're just like the real thing.

Wife and I went real for about 5 years and it was nice and nostalgic but after Christmas one year we bought a 10 ft $400 artificial for $150…
We now have a big red bag with wheels that we store it in…only in two pieces…
All the lights are LCD and can change colors and patterns…it’s awesome.
We will never go back.
For all you thinking about switching…go buy one the week after Christmas…lots of good deals.

and by Jan 1, when the live tree is all dried out, you won't have the equivalent of a bucket of gasoline sitting in your living room
