2nd grade teacher told class Tiger died

My kid's teacher told them Tiger Woods died last night. She took class outside and noticed flag at half staff and took the teachable moment to explain what that means. Problem is she somehow leapt to the conclusion that Tiger Woods must be the reason. (We live in Germany so accident news was probably breaking when she went to bed) Turns out the actual reason is to mark 500k Covid deaths.
Not sure what's worse spouting misinformation or that a teacher thought the flag would be immediately lowered for death of a celebrity.

They didn't know who he was. Teacher had to explain that too. All the more reason I was surprised when my kid announced "Tiger Woods is dead!"
