luckily a white guy/tea partier isn't responsible for the shooting, so that the top cnn story would have only lasted a half-day anyway.

If they ran a story every time there was a shooting in New Orleans they would need their own CNNNOLA channel

You talking about the bourbon orleans right?

I helped design the place and renovate it when it became Snook's then sued for the name a year later and become something or another Oh's or whatever.

James is still there I believe. You talking about the older cat that lives in either the marigny or treme. Little loose in the shoes but a character?

I still stop by and make him give me a free drink every time I happen to walk past altho I haven't worked there in probably 7 years

In 200 murder cases selected from a 13-month span between April 2009 and May 2010, the study found 57 were tied to drugs, while 47 were acts of revenge. Gangs were almost never a factor. Arguments led to 37 killings.

Who do you think these revenge killing involve? When I use the term gang I am not talking about Crips and Bloods. New Orleans has a very unique neighborhood set-up that we still consider gangs. Perhaps you call them something else but they are still small groups of criminals that operate together.

This is a sad situation and I'm no Nola apologist but I think this is starting to blow up a little bigger than it should. It's more a random act of violence than us putting tourist In the middle of a gang war and telling them they are safe.

I think majority of people know when you go to a heart of an urban area to drink and party and act an arse that you are no doubt putting yourself acceptable to stuff that just don't usually happen in your everyday life.

This is the exception and not the norm. Every couple months you will have a shoot out on canal but further up and it's usually like one injured and not as many tourist around. Then the random robberies in the out skirts of the quarter. Not this.

well they need to toss these 2 under the jail to remind the criminals to solve their grievances away from the tourist areas.

aggressive stop and frisk policy implemented would do wonders for the quarter. profile the ones who appear to be up to no good. have police be engaged in walking the beat.

it worked for NYC, and it could work in NOLA.

yall are both right in a way but I've always said Nola doesn't have a gang problem. Even Latin gangs tried to move in after Katrina and couldn't get a foothold in the neighborhoods because of the close knit communities that are usually ran and operated by uncles and cousins. More "you shot my brother I'm going to kill your cousin" than "I'm going to shoot you because you're wearing blue"

I have met 50 year olds that had never left the city of Nola until Katrina. Haven't even been north of the lake. They are all about their ward or hood and don't mind dying.

That sounds like a horrible idea to me. I don't believe suppressing the rights of our citizens solves anything. Perhaps there would be fewer shootings in the Quarter but they would shoot each other elsewhere. Do you start stop and frisk in those neighborhoods in that case? Where do you draw the line?
