Space Force will have its asteroid defense systems in place within 10 years. They won’t catch us off guard like Buenos Aires

Sounds like the risk of a strike on this next pass is minimal. But, I remember seeing a show years ago on near earth asteroids, and there is another risk involved. If an asteroid gets close enough, it can go through what is called a "gravitational keyhole". If this happens it could swing the orbit of the asteroid even closer next time around, making an eventual strike more likely.
