Stick axles beat BMW so badly when they went to the design after the New Edge that BMW lobbied for weight penalties to be added to the Mustangs, which they got. Mustang still took the manufacturers title that year. The idea that a straight axle car can't handle is founded on ignorance, not sound engineering.

Every review of a previous gen mustang that came out at the time commented on how unsettled they were in a corner if they hit a bump.

Clames is right. A properly set up SRA Mustang has flat-out unreal handling capabilities on a racetrack.

Reviews by hacks that had been agitating for IRS Mustangs since the SN95 cars. The panhard setup in the last gen cars would take a serious bump to upset in a turn, a bump an IRS setup wouldn't fair much better against. Nevermind the SRA has better torque distribution and mechanical efficiency. I've been involved in a few 03/04 Cobra IRS to SRA swaps, generally very little lost for what was gained in weight savings and ease of track tuning.

Let us know when Leno is campaigning in AIX, I don't think he has a grasp of concepts like instant center and the rather comprehensive enginnering that goes into chassis/suspension design.

You can get a Roush Supercharger for a 5.0 installed for about 10K. Will get you up to about 700HP. Get ready for about 7-8MPG.
I get 9.5 in my fx4 with the roush kit but thats with bigger tires and rims and a slightly higher than stock stall converter.
I didnt read the article linked in the OP but im pretty sure that site just post what they think will happen...not any real backed info...click bait.

What is wrong with manufacturers putting out vehicles that fill a niche?
Nothing. Fair point. People can spend their money how they want. Most of these cars are bought for showing off and pounding chests and the attention. Their right though.

Still a Ford. No thanks.
This....I keep my cars more than 4-5 years. No Fords for us.

You need to check out my employers web site and click under the "cars" tab. He has two '04 Shelby cobras with the hand built Terminator motors in them. Currently he owns two, one for street (near 700 RWHP) and one for NHRA cert. (near 1000 RWHP). Strip car runs 9.3-9.6 constantly. Runs Whipple 34 supercharger. Check it out!
