YouTube stunt gone bad
quote:

(HALSTAD, Minn.) — A Minnesota woman has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting her boyfriend in a videotaped stunt they planned to post on YouTube. Monalisa Perez, 20, pleaded guilty last week to second-degree manslaughter in the June death of 22-year-old Pedro Ruiz III, The Star Tribune reported . Perez has two young children with Ruiz.

Perez told investigators that Ruiz wanted to make a video of her shooting a bullet into a hardcover encyclopedia he was holding against his chest, according to court records. Perez said she fired a .50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol from about a foot away. Two cameras recorded the incident, though investigators have withheld the footage. Ruiz died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Let's say it worked

Could you imagine the impact of an Encyclopedia to your chest after being propelled from 50 Cal?

Wow

I wake up most days wondering how many "YouTube Likes" I could get if I posted a video of someone shooting me in the chest with a 50 caliber pistol from 12 inches away. I mean...... what could possibly be the downside to this feat.

Did they not even test this first to see what would happen? Like you can put an identical book on the ground and fire from the same distance to see if it would penetrate. That might have been just a slightly less bad idea at least.

Same as the impact the pistol makes on your hand from shooting it.

Supposedly they did test it first, but it didn't penetrate. More than likely, the didn't support the book properly, so it wasn't the same as him holding the book against his chest.
