According to that Advocate article, the guy with the tongue ring was on the deceased mans side of the fight. If so, i'd think he wouldn't be charged any higher than he currently is.

Yep. Plus from an even more self preservation standpoint, don't confront people in a possible volatile situation if you've just had brain surgery. Seems the guy still had staples from the surgery.

In no way am I BLAMING the victim. It's not his fault, but he could have chosen not to put himself in a situation like this when his head is still healing from brain surgery.

Nope, not at all. It's called if they start making a legit threat to my life (which apparently they did more than just a threat), it is there to protect myself from 2-3 trashy fricktards. I learned a LONG time ago to never pull a gun on someone unless its the absolute last resort and never pull it unless you plan on using it.

You are right, the trashy fricks should of cleaned up after themselves like normal, decent human-beings. I don't know what/how things escalated to the point where a fight starts, but telling someone to have some decency should not result in a man's death. Fear of being killed should not be the reason someone avoids telling someone to do the right thing.
