I know a friend of a friend, very normal dude. Was a cop, got home in uniform at 3am from a shift, which was completely normal. Walked inside, greeted the dog, again nothing out of the ordinary. Said he was in the kitchen for about 5 minutes, and legit out of nowhere, the dog just ran up and attacked, bit him on the arm. Dog wouldn't let go, he had to pull out his service weapon and shoot it. He now has nerve damage and little use of that arm.
I'm all for depopulating the world of pit bulls, but you and I both know that none of this ever happened.

My God. Honestly Mom should be charged with manslaughter.

There’s too many stories of the “loving and affectionate” family pet pit bull that’s never shown an ounce of aggression towards anything other than its food bowl and is “just great with the kids”,

quote:That's the whole fricking problem, asshat! Everyone who has ever owned a pit, thought they were "responsible". Every trailer park dwelling, low IQ, "I tough, so I need a tough dog" idiot gravitates toward that breed. There in, lies the problem. For every truly responsible owner, there are 1000 who just think they are.....and that's how babies get killed by the "nanny dog"
People incapable of taking care of a dog shouldn’t own a pit, and probably don’t need to procreate.

I have miniature schnauzers, they are a-holes, if they were as big and strong as a pit, no way would I own one.

My question is why pick this breed when there are 100s of others to choose from.
Getting an actual honest answer from a pit owner would go a long ways.

If you have small children, never ever adopt dogs.

Some of the best dogs out there are shelter dogs
Most of you people have undisciplined little heathen children running around, slapping their parents with no repercussions...this is way more harmful to this society. We don't have a pitbull problem, we have a parenting problem. Do better as parents. Discipline your children.

This is the case 99.9% of the time, but I've heard stories of pits attacking the families that owned them that you'd never expect as well.

You can't make this shite up.

Horrified neighbors left flowers in front of the tiny white house on Reina Del Mar Avenue, where a “Beware of the Dog” sign hung from the fence. Darla Napora loved her dogs — 2-year-old male Gunner and a 6-year-old female pit bull, Tazi — family said, and was an avid supporter of Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit bulls, or Bad Rap, which seeks to change attitudes toward the polarizing breed.
She was one of the people trolling messages about how it's the owner not the breed. The key word is "was" in that sentence.

Pit almost got me earlier this week. No signs of dog at clients previous property, they had package delivered there by mistake, I went to ask new owners for it & walk up to front door stoop, ring doorbell, pit with shock collar comes around side of house and was not happy to see me. Stayed there until a jogger with a dog came by, pit went at him up to invisible fence, I went the other way, pit saw me and B lines straight at me. Hauled arse immediately. Scratched my leg right at invisible fence line but I was scared as shite.

Poorly trained Lab = chewing up shoes, jumping up on
people, snatching food out of kid's
hands.
Poorly trained Pit Bull = death

As an avid runner, Pit Bulls scare the crap out of me. I've often thought about what I would do if one ever came at me while I was running.

Stupidest post of the day nomination.
What does parenting have to do with this story? You’re trying to say either child’s behavior started this attack ?

If it weren't for low IQ and trashy people, the pit bull breed wouldn't exist.
Maybe pit bulls are God's way of thinning the herd.

Pit bull is not a breed, so maybe start with the dumbasses that think it is.

I own a pit. Not full pit, pit/lab mix, but you can definitely see the pit in her head. My wife found this dog trying to survive on eating straw near a baseball field when she was 8 weeks old. My wife didn't say "Oh my god a pittbull!" She saw a dog that needed a home and took it in.
She's the most well behaved submissive dog (around humans) I've ever been around. The only times she shows aggression is when another dog at a dog park tries to dominate her. My cousin's lab, on the other hand, attacked him and put him in the hospital, so there's that.
I don't know what makes a dog go bad, maybe it's the breed, maybe it isn't. That being said, I get nervous when I see ANY dog around ANY baby, both for the child and the dog.
