2 starving children found locked in filthy dog kennel at rural Texas home

Sheriff's deputies found four malnourished children under the age of 5 — including two who were locked in a dog kennel — in a Wise County home Tuesday morning, officials said.Authorities were called at 7:20 a.m. to investigate a family violence incident at the home near Rhome, according to the Wise County Messenger.
A man and woman, both 24, were at the home off County Road 4930 between Newark and Rhome, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas. While a sheriff's deputy spoke with them, he heard children inside, the paper reported.
Sheriff Lane Akin told the paper that the deputy found four children in the home, ages 5, 4, 3 and 1.

Very glad sheriff lane akin was alert and heard the kids. Since these kids are so young, there is a chance these kids can be guided in the right direction. Humans can be so cruel and inhumane to each other.

well before we start blaming the parents, what did the kids do to have to be put in the kennel? We all know how unruly children can be.
This is just a timeout. Timeout in a place that is safe for the children, yet away from disturbing the adults as they work in their home office. Really need more of the backstory here before everyone starts freaking out.

This headline should read, "Deputy comes across a shocking scene where two unfit parents obviously killed themselves. No further investigation will be necessary. "

I have an adopted brother who was malnourished and severely neglected till he was three. That fricked him up. I love him to pieces and he's as much my family as my own kids, but I'll never understand his desire to associate with his pos birth parents.
I think about what he could've become and it makes me ill to my soul.

His dadis still around somewhere, mother is long gone. He knows what happened, but remembers none of it.

Our oldest is adopted, her parents had drug and alcohol abuse problems, plus subjected their kids to all kinds of messed up stuff, but to this day she struggles with that internal conflict of "I know I'm in a better and safer place now, but I still love my birth parents".
Regardless of what they went through, that's still their mommy and daddy. And we constantly tell her she doesn't have to apologize for still loving them. She's old enough to express real anger for what they did or didn't do, but it's still a struggle trying to reconcile that loss and anger. No kid should ever have to go through that.

because she is an actual good person, who was raised by good people to do the right thing. She just wants to show love, and not be the person her birth parents were

I hear that, but I don't think he has any real memories of mommy/ daddy that weren't my parents. It's possible I guess.
He has two brothers that are older and good guys. He mostly only talks to and visits them.

It's not even that. For a young developing mind, all they know is that mom and dad are a safe place, that's part of their makeup. When they are abused or neglected, they want to flee from it but are still drawn back to the ingrained safe place. That conflict is basics of connection and trust issues.
Every once in a while, she'll start asking about her parents, will cry, will get angry, will have to be talked down. It's painful and heartbreaking to watch.

You'd be surprised how early trauma can affect a child. It can happen in utero. Regardless of if they have a memory of it, those experiences are imprinted.
