Pictures say it all - workmate got T-boned at a 4 way stop and the air bags deployed. Fortunately no one was hurt and everyone got out of the vehicles before this happened. Seems like another one where the seat belt retracter ignited the foam. Seen a few now where they caught fire after a crash.

Only if you don't care about your stability control system randomly turning off or your bumper potentially falling apart when you step on it.

I got the recall letter and scheduled an appointment at the dealership to get it fixed. Dropped it off and waited for a couple hours. They called me, I went to pick it up, and the guy at the service desk handed me a single key and my key fob (which had a flip out key built into it) with the key removed. I asked him why they did that and he said that was the fix, not changing the ignition. I knew these car companies did some scumbag shite, but that one was pretty bad.

It would suck if you flipped and the air bags saved your life without a scratch but then burned you to death because you couldn't get out quickly.

Seat belts are classified as hazmat freight along with airbags because of the pretensioners. I thought all modern seat belts had them not just Ford. I don't know how the companies who manufacture either are still in business because of all the recalls. I guess the car manufacturers pays a portion of the losses.

You mean where people put aftermarket mats that didn’t fit and forgot how to use a brake?

That’s what Toyota blamed it on.

There were a number of crashes where the floor mats were not in the car, and Toyota did install a piece of hardware on the accelerator.

A lot of people think there was a code issue with the ECMs, which are not cheap to fix.

Correct.

But as of now only Fords (in particularly, the Ford F series) are bursting into flames because of it.

because of a seatbelt problem that could result in smoke, and possibly even a fire, inside the vehicle.

You must work in the media to embellish the above comment in the article to "exploding"
