Authorities are releasing details of an officer-involved shooting in Ragley Monday night that left one man dead.
Eric John Senegal, 27, was killed at a residence in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana State Police Troop D spokesman Sgt. James Anderson said. A dog at the residence on Gene Stanley Road was also shot and killed.
Deputies were serving a narcotics search warrant when the shooting happened, Anderson said. The house is under investigation for illegal drug activity.
Two deputies have been placed on desk duty following the shooting, Beauregard Sheriff Ricky Moses said.
State police have opened an investigation into the shooting at the request of the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, Anderson said.
Deputy Chief Joe Toler, Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman, declined comment, deferring requests to state police.
KPLC is working to gather more information

The video of the "on the scene" reporter reminded me of something straight out of a 9th grade speech class where the assignment is to pretend you are a news reporter. That might have been the most amateurish report I have ever scene on TV.

It's still not clear what led to the shooting.
KPLC has asked for a copy of the warrant the deputies were serving, along with other information from Louisiana State Police and the Beauregard Sheriff's Department.
We still don't know whether Senegal was armed, how many times he was shot or other details of what happened, nor have the names of the two deputies placed on desk duty been released.
Senegal's dog, Kia, was also shot and killed.
State police are investigating the shooting to determine whether lethal force was warranted. They say they are withholding details at this point to preserve the integrity of their investigation.
KPLC has asked for police and autopsy records, photos and other information in order to accurately report what happened.

At least they went out together. I'm a pretty laid back person, but I'm pretty sure if someone killed my dog, I'd snap and be in prison for the foreseeable future.

I thought his older brothers were closer to your age? The middle brother is a good dude and always has been. I didn't know the deceased but IIRC he has been dealing drugs since high school and was kicked out over it.

There was a rumor that this dude was operating a meth lab. I agree about the war on drugs but an amateur meth lab is pretty dangerous and needs to be shut down.

I hear you. It's just that it seems our police are only a few steps away from flying Predators and Reapers over our heads randomly taking out offenders.
