No one in Tallahassee, at the time, would have attended a hockey game unless a fight broke out. The Tiger Sharks were well-known for giving the fans what they wanted.

There was one pretty much every game. I remember one game I had just settled into my seat and they were about to drop the puck. One of the forwards (Maxwell) looked over at his counterpart and they nodded to each other. As soon as the puck hit the ice, the gloves came off.

arse Gators vs. Brass were great, especially in New Orleans. Lord did we hate the IceGators, dirty as hell, too.

Someone commented about the European guys and the kids that play in the ECHL, I know other fanbases did it, too, but we had a booster club, the Krewe of Brass. Members of the booster club would be paired with the players, and sort of served to help them out with living on their own, fixing them dinner once a week and such. We never did it, but they sort of acted as surrogate families so the players would have people to rely on.

It was an impressive thing. Most of the Brass players used to live in the Creeks apartment complex on Dickory Avenue in Harahan, right at Earhart.

I’ll pay handsomely if you can get me an old ice pirates jersey

I'll look around for some things at my house, I seem to recall having a Jersey around that was a large or an xl that I packed when I moved. Seems like I have an old official puck too.

I'll search around and post pics if I can find it.

IceGators = forever the best Louisiana ECHL team.

The Queenfish and whatever the NOLA team was were such garb.

How’s my Hibernia Cup taste.

You mean uncle?

Unfortunately never saw him enough to consider him family. Twice in my entire life, I wasn't super close with my dad to begin with. my step mother's sister's husband.

Baw was extremely loaded though. Was a well respected doctor, the kind of guy that you wish you were closer to as family.

That would be really cool. I moved out of state to a city with a hockey team and have become a fan. I’d love to be able to rock a ice pirates jersey to games

Roger Maxwell’s sole job was to whoop arse. I remember when he was transferred to the Mississippi Seawolves and attendance skyrocketed. The guy loved some fighting:

For the first couple years, games were packed. I remember the chomp, Gator Girls, craziness all packed in the Cajundome. It lost its luster and faded.

I had season tix on the red line for the Memphis River Kings of the CHL. One night against Ft Worth, the Memphis goalie Antoine Mindjimba took his Louisville goalie stick and two handed across the arm of one of the Ft Worth players after the puck went the other way. It hit right between two of his arm pads and you could hear his arm make this sickening pop all the way in the stands...it was not.....humerus.

I remember going to opening home game during the 1998 season where before the start of the game, they turned down the lights and there was a whistling type of skyrocket on a wire that led to the unveiling of the division champion banner. Ice Gators didn't disappoint with multiple fights in a game the won in sudden death.

I still have a puck I picked up that night:

I also remember seeing on the news a fan getting into a fight when one of the Ice Gators when he came off the ice. Can't remember which player it was.

It was Dennis Maxwell that I was talking about. He could actually score but he didn't shy away from a good fight when necessary. Roger Maxwell was a straight up goon.

Tallahassee always had at least one goon on the roster at all times, sometimes two. Our best scorer was Cal Ingraham, who was maybe 5'8" with skates on. So we needed somebody to take up for him if the other team started getting physical with him.

@mizells - I have 3 really fond memories of Kyle.
1. - When we were sitting in front of his radio box one time, we came into a game a few minutes late. And he noted our arrival on the radio.

2. - I was listening to his call for an away game one night and Mark Richards made a great save. "What a glorious save by Richards!" I can still hear him saying that.

3. - He got away with saying "bullshite" on air one night. Sharks were playing Pensacola in the playoffs and Tallahassee was winning late in the game by a goal, in P'cola. Cal Ingraham came over the boards too quickly on a line change and they called too many men on the ice. But because there was only a minute or so left in the game, they awarded a penalty shot. The officials are within their rights to do that but that is incredibly, incredibly rare for them to make that call. Kyle said it was a bullshite call on air then came back after commercial break and apologized for it. He was right though; it was bullshite. They made the penalty shot, sent it to overtime and won in OT. Then they took the series in Tallahassee a game or two later.
