According to Dr. Birx yesterday afternoon, they're still working through a backlog of tests as they get more capacity from private labs, so the day-over-day change could be misleading. Not trying to downplay the ongoing risk, but it's possible that we're closer to flattening out than it may otherwise seem.

This is correct. I have no idea - and nobody else has an idea - as to where we are on the curve, but we did not have 407 people test positive yesterday. Those tests are likley nearly a week old.

Why would we? Simply because that’s what happened to Italy?

I think it's safe to say both Louisiana (mainly NOLA) and Italy both have their fair share of factors that would lead one to believe a high number of deaths is possible.

Louisiana, by far, is one of the least healthy states in the nation. Obesity, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, cancer... those are all of the "preexisting conditions" that make a person high risk. Guess what? There's a shite ton of those people who live in Louisiana. The hospitals in NOLA are on the brink of being overflooded. If there are no beds for these "at-risk" patients, there's a high probability they will die.

This is not baseless fear mongering. This is based off what we are seeing on a daily basis now.

Italy and LA are not comparable in any sense. You push the hospitals being overrun in every post you make.

i think the future for Louisiana is similar to Italy, yes. its not like the demographics in this state are full of young and healthy individuals

of course, i hope im completely wrong, but I'm struggling to see why it wouldn't be a similar outcome

So, 9,656 people, or 84%, of the sick persons who got tested are ill from something OTHER than COVID-19??

YAY???

The state is chock full of people who are obese, have diabetes, smoke, have cancer, have HIV, have heart disease

Yet people are not trusting scientists who are giving their recommendation that this be catastrophic if you return to normal life

There is no proof that social distancing or sheltering in place works at all. It’s Security Theater at its finest.

Is Covid-19 banned from Grocery Stores, Walmart, home depot, academy, etc.?

Is the virus not being spread in those locations? Or does it only spread in bars, restaurants, and non-essential businesses?

Vice? No, anyone with logic can see that the rate of infection and serious cases on the current growth trajectory in Louisiana will overwhelm the hospital system.

This will affect hospital staff leading some doctors and nurses that are sorely needed right now. That's going to compound the problem.

This is not a hoax nor is this hard to comprehend.

You people don’t understand statistics and you’re literally trying to compare to completely separate instances of the virus and it’s spread as a worst case scenario.

Tell me, why are we making the comparison to Italy vs other countries with better outcomes?

They are not including tests that do not have a confirmed positive or negative. There are thousands of pending tests that have not been added to any total. The reported tests have all been analyzed and confirmed by a lab.

What do you do for a living? I seriously cannot imagine living in so much fear and blindly trusting someone because they are an “expert”.
