I disagree, I think the realization by this girl that fricking a guy in public would have her labeled a slut is a societal pressure. I also think that pressure is as old as the sewing circle, and that social media/technology has an overall neutral if not positive effect on it. I believe it makes things more transparent, where before there was simply town gossip. I mean, facebook is still essentially town gossip, but there's at least the increased chance of finding some kind of hard evidence this person makes bad choices and is willing to lie to avoid consequences.
