But blacks were still smoking crack, correct? They were choosing to take drugs that would destroy their communities through health problems and prison sentences, correct?

How is this in any way related to racism or even white privilege? It sounds like a number of "men" within a community made terrible choices without reflecting on the potential consequences for their families.

True but their refusal to acknowledge that fact along with your refusal to acknowledge that their is a sentencing disparity is why racial problems still exist.

1 group of people didn't create problems like this and 1 group of people can't fix it themselves either.

Here are the facts:

-White people use schedule one narcotics at a very similar rates to blacks

-crack is cocaine in another form

-crack is cheaper than blow, so poor blacks use crack.

-the prison population explosion correlates with these sentencing disparities, three strikes laws, etc.

-blacks now make up forty percent of the prison population, fourteen percent of the general population.

Maybe they should have made more money so that they could buy eight-balls and get 1/100 of the jail time.
