Kids are awesome. As a parent, I'm glad people such as yourself aren't having children. Its a positive for society.

as a person without kids (who may never have them), i always see it as a bat signal for extreme narcissism of the kidless
it's like a form of urban-neuroticism to the extreme, being played out in real time (and on here, by people not even living in elite metro areas)

So you've got like 15 kids right? Doing your part?

We do 9 anyway.
I’m not real proud of it.

Then we would have never had to experience the pain of wanting them and not being able to have them.
in my response to DS, i was actually going to bring up this scenario (the agony of people who want kids but can't have them)
that's a part of our biology. it's literally how we evolved. being separated from that instinct requires a lot of either pathology or lying to yourself. you see this in the people who want kids and who can't have kids

I've know a few people that chose to not have kids.
They all either have kids now or are trying to have kids.

Why does there have to be competition here? Being child free is awesome, and so is having children. There are more pros than cons for each. Being alive at a time where we have the opportunity to live these easy lives is awesome, with or without kids. As another poster stated, our ancestors went through hell to get us to this point.

I’d upvote this 100 times if I could.

Then we would have never had to experience the pain of wanting them and not being able to have them.
I've known several couples who made a choice to not have children, which is perfectly within their rights to decide and I respect them for it.
But, by the time they were in their 50's every one of them regretted their decision. They became bitter and resentful of their friends who had children and grandchildren to the point that friendships were lost.
And one of those couples was so miserable just being the two of them that they eventually abandoned each other. The wife drank herself to death in what I consider to have been a slow suicide.

You’re not that old

Some of you act like you are millionaires and are able to hit up Bora Bora while living in your 20 million dollar NYC penthouse. Instead you are working a meaningless job, watching Netflix at night, going to Sonic, and going to Panama City Florida for vacations. No need to ruin this lavish lifestyle with a kid.
Best post in here, in my opinion.

Agree. I also don't want people who don't care to have kids, having kids.
Kids need someone who cares for them.

We waited a decade to have children. If I had known how amazing those little guys are I would have not waited. Our lives are richer for having them. Being able to see them experience new things and learn is incredible.

Damn straight. That's why our 10th President, John Tyler, still has 2 grandchildren alive today.
