Yep
Every able bodied American has the ability to escape poverty.
If someone makes min wage for over a year, something is awfully wrong with that person and they are probably marginally employable.

But you're probably the guy who'll say "sure, I'll gladly take an across-the-board increase in my costs because it helps the ~3% of American adults who make minimum wage."
You just contradicted your own point. The costs of all goods and services aren't going to rise based on an increase in wages for a small group, but it could raise all wages.
This is seriously economics 101, it's moving supply and demand curves vertically theres a vertical point at which nothing changes.

The problem is our minimum wage hasn't increased since the 90's, and pay slightly above minimum has subsequently also stagnated while inflation has far outpaced it.
When you keep giving raises via the min wage, people have absolutely no motivation to improve themselves.
And they will not.

Only an emotion wreck would assume CEO's are randomly giving themselves raises.
Wealthy people giving other wealthy people raises increasing the average wage of a rich person indirectly giving themselves more earning opportunity.
It's not rocket science. If everyone in my industry gets a raise that increases the value of my labor.
That's all totally beside the overarching point, though, that a continued growth in wealth disparity, whether between poor and wealthy or middle class and wealthy, is not good for society as a whole.

Nothing like an alcoholic preaching about improving oneself

How am I supposed to live on $15 per hour!!!!!???????????????
Says the D-average student.
Who changes jobs 4-6x per year.
Covered in thousands of dollars in tattoos.
With well-manicured nails and frequent visits to hair salon.
Weed habit.
Spending $3000 to outfit a $2000 car with rims and stereo.
Spends $0 on insurance or maintenance of car.
With children they can't afford.
Renting furniture so it costs 10x purchase price.
Spends $0 on health insurance.
If only there was a way!

It's welfare, when it benefits you, you want it. When it doesn't, you don't.
Im fine listening to your arguement that welfare should be abolished, but you can't pick and choose

You're too stupid to realize that the rates of goods and services will also rise. These people on the bottom aren't going to be "better off". If you think that, just make the annual minimum salary $1,000,000. Now everyone is a millionaire. We just have to hope the costs of goods and services don't also rise!

Or do you think most people make minimum wage or…? As a follow-up, is your position is that raising minimum wage is only going to manifest in that specific group of earners? That no other costs will rise?

True. I'm for abolishing all of it.

Funny thing about that. So few do that they are almost statistically insignificant.

Will they? Depends on high high it moves the curve vertically

Nonsensical arguement is nonsensical. Great sign you have no fricking clue what you're talking about

I don't get TOPS. Never did.
But people doing well in school is good for society / the state. It improves the overall quality of life.
People having 6 bastard children they can't support hurts society / the state.
Are you not smart enough to understand the difference? You shouldn't subsidize behavior you don't want. It's better to reward behavior that you do want.
