Sucks, but I'm guessing this isn't a surprise to the workers there. The day they were sold, they had to realize their death warrant was signed.

The Walle Corp., which began life as a lithography firm in New Orleans in 1872, will shutter its labeling factory in Harahan in February with the loss of 101 jobs, its new parent company said.

The news comes one month after the company, which is now headquartered in a suburb of Atlanta, was acquired by Chicago-based Fort Dearborn Co., also a label-maker.
quote:
Advent has been using Fort Dearborn as a "roll up vehicle" over the last few years, acquiring U.S. labeling firms as the industry consolidates, typically cutting jobs and closing facilities as it merges the operations.

You know, at one time there must've been dozens of companies makin' buggy whips. And I'll bet the last company around was the one that made the best goddamn buggy whip you ever saw. Now how would you have liked to have been a stockholder in that company? You invested in a business and this business is dead. Let's have the intelligence, let's have the decency to sign the death certificate, collect the insurance, and invest in something with a future.

I know they still had a factory in Harahan, but I wouldn't call that a NOLA company. Harahan was more like a branch office.

Nothing about that article is New Orleans except the company was started there in 1872. It currently has zero to do with New Orleans

Sorry to see this. I know one guy who has been working there for 32 years and a lady in administration who has been there over 40 years. I used to call on them when they were in my territory and it seemed like a good work enviroment.

You know Harahan is a suburb of New Orleans, right?

The company was founded in New Orleans, had operations in the NOLA area.
102 plus locals lost their jobs.
Don't be a dick.
