The judge last summer relieved Pettice of his ankle monitor after finding he was unable to afford the monitoring fees. After his November arrest, the judge ordered him held without bond.

ankle monitor would not have alerted anyone to anything.

Ankle monitors aren’t sentient.

Duct tape. We are finding that is the preferred method to counter their tracking.

Judges release violent offenders with the plausible safeguard that they wear these tracking devices that will limit their ability to commit new crimes. Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth.

The private companies that monitor the data don’t alert or do anything to revoke bond if the violator is non compliant. All they care about is getting the monthly court ordered monitoring fees.

Law enforcement has to obtain a search warrant to review the data. It’s not readily shared.

I don’t have any direct knowledge of this particular case,

Weren’t you spouting off in another thread how this never happens in EBR….

Pretty ironic the girl in the Livingston sex scandal got life for engaging in a three way with an adult woman, this guy assaults multiple women and kills one, gets 12 years and will be out before serving less than ten….

And they wonder why crime is out of control in BR

Nope. I said that murders very rarely plead down in such a way that an individual is only going to serve a handful of years, and in those cases, there are always extenuating circumstances, generally that the State's case was dogshit and they didn't believe they could prove their case at trial.

This is the thread, if you want to go refresh your memory: LINK

Not ironic at all. She went to trial and lost. Life is the only available sentence for what she was convicted of. Had she accepted a plea, she wouldn't be serving life. Also, she was prosecuted by the AG's office, so location is utterly irrelevant.

Anything else?

So, the dude steals a gun (felony?), and a few hours later, shoots and kills the girlfriend on a sidewalk.

Unfortunately, he didn't kill the girl during the commission of the felony of stealing the gun, so that doesn't make it first degree murder.

But throwing money at gun violence instead of sports will help.
