they're very unclear on the dates
some don't include the 80s, some include just the late 80s, others include the whole decade, and some start it in the late 70s.
point is, it's a terrible abuse of children that is now being promoted by millennials and forced onto children. it's pretty fricking sick.

I think the issue is how they are treating the condition. It seems like the doctors coming out and saying that we need to stop the self mutilation are being maligned.

Yes and no, DNA says you are one or the other(there are rare outliers). Your mental make-up is the one deciding contrary here, not biology. It's a long debate over whether your mental decisions and/or predisposition is actually science.

So what we've been taught in medical school is to wait until they go through puberty before really having a discussion on hormone therapy.
Because the vast majority of children that have this idea early in life (the number quoted was near 90%) revert back so their assigned sex and gender align.
If however after puberty they still have strong gender dysphoria and it is overwhelming in nature, then they need referral to a specialist in childhood psych, along with a referral to a specialist in hormone therapy.
To start it at 10 is radical in my eyes.
But who knows how the medical community is going to swing on this. They could set the bar down lower and lower, it all depends on how insistent the child/parents and the doctor who is treating the child are.
