That back nine is always treacherous, isn't it?

Funny you mention Fripp. I am on vacation in Kauai and we met a former Alabama football player and his wife who played for Bryant from 68-70. My family and I just got back to Princeville after grilling out with them at their place in Poipou. He had a doctor friend who owned a place on Fripp. He told me a story about the big arse gators there and how his doctor friend hit a golf ball that came to rest at the water edge of a pond. Huge gator was sitting about 3 feet out and when he reached to pick up his ball it lurched and grabbed his arm. It took his arm off while his two playing partners were pulling him the opposite way to keep his body from being drug in. Dude lost his arm but lived. Just weird that we were talking about that tonight and you mentioned Fripp.

Yeah you have to pay attention when near a creek or pond. I had a ball land a few feet away from some baby Gators one time, but I saw them before I went to reach for it. They won that day.

Yeah. I have a vivid memory of vacationing on Kiawah. We were in some condo with a pond behind it and some golfer was poking at something in the water with his club.

I can still see the gator lurching at him. It didn't get him, but what a memory. And what an idiot for prodding the gator.

That condo had a porch that you could walk down to the pond and you could just see a gator or two waiting on the water's edge. I get chills thinking about it today.

When i was at ULL during college , in the early 2000's, i remember we were eating near that little swamp section on campus. Someone says hey throw a fry to the gator. I'm like ok and proceed to toss the fry into the water. Thinking maybe a 2 or 3 foot alligator at the most would pop up. Well the head comes out of the water and that boy most have been 9 to 10 feet long. I know this because i grew up fishing the swamps with my dad/grandpa and saw plenty of alligators. I was like WTF? I was like have any students gone missing in the last year? I think a few months later he was removed and replaced with a smaller version

This sounds like a typical it could only happen in Florida story. Except it didn't happen in Florida.

Long ago my ex-fil was in charge of removing the gators past 4 feet from the pond by the union at USL. Had a little bitty boat they would go out and get them with. Stupid way to do it if you ask me.
